1I bought it on Steam two months ago, and have to say I was a bit disappointed. It’s not like Call of Duty, Day of Defeat or Battlefield. Red O. is very realistic, but also has slow gameplay… And there are not nearly enough people playing it online

3I still can’t believe people are actually paying for this glorified mod. I remember when it won the first round of the Make Something Unreal contest and I groaned then and I am still groaning. This is probably one of the most boring games around that I have ever played. I mean it may be realistic but who wants this type of boring non fun gameplay type of realism in a game? Not me that’s for sure and from what I keep hearing about no people to play with online I must not be the only one.

4You guys have got it all wrong…the realism is what makes this game better than any other games out there. You cant possibly do a tenth of the things in real life that you can do in some of these games on the market today, and to me thats dissapointing. This game is very realistic and it makes you think twice about being able to just pick up a health pack at your convienience. As far as the online play goes…you do have a point, there arent as many people as I would like to see. However, there are always at least 6 or 7 full or close to full maps running at any given time to play on. I think with the new edition coming out we will have alot more fun.
Keep an eye out for me on the OREL map!!! - Hermann Bix

5Okay as long as someone is actually enjoying this I guess that is cool. It’s not my kind of game and maybe I am just recalling how crappy the actual mod was so I can definitely respect someone actually having fun … and that is interesting that there are at least some servers that have activity … the way I had heard it no one was online at all. Which frankly didn’t make much sense given the nature of the game.

6You people are being shortsighted, honestly.
The fact that you dont like this game, does NOT make it a bad game.
You want it to be like Battlefield, or Call of Duty? Hell no, in MY opinion those games suck balls cause they are run and gun-games.
I HATE Call of Duty for being a ‘wargame’ but doing it so very unrealistic, it’s not giving any credits to veterans. All people think is ‘oh, war is so heroic and cool!’.
The developers of RO once said: “Most games make you feel like you are in a war-movie, RO wants to make you feel like your in a war!”
And that is exactly how it is!
ANUBAN: ” I mean it may be realistic but who wants this type of boring non fun gameplay type of realism in a game?”
I want this type of ‘boring nonfun realistic gameplay’, as there are many more people who want it!
Why the hell do you think games like Rainbow Six (the OLD versions, NOT Lockdown or Vegas), Ghost Recon (again, first version!), Operation Flashpoint, or Armed Assault have become so popular?
And compared to RO, Operation Flashpoint and Armed Assault are even much more realistic and 10 times as slow, and RO a fastpaced game.
Unfortunately, they dumbed down games like R6 and Ghost Recon down for the likes of you, and the old hardcore fanbase get’s jacked off with run-and-gun sequals to their beloved games, TO PLEASE YOU!
And now you go on, and want another run and gun game? Please.
Then there is another thing you people are getting wrong!
Retail RO is NOT the mod!
The engine has been re-written for a large part, models and everything have been upgraded, they implemented a crouched-sprinting feature, a jump to prone-feature and much much more!
Yes, Mod-RO had only a few servers. HOWEVER, retail-RO has many more!
I can go online at any time and find at least 20 servers with a decent ping, and filled with more then enough people to have a decent game.
