Review Roundup: Guitar Hero 2

gh2.jpgGuitar Hero was one of the most innovative PS2 games since the EyeToy, and was praised in almost every review. The sequel, Guitar Hero 2, appears to be just as good, with new multiplayer modes and new songs.

GameSpot (87/100) “Without a doubt, Guitar Hero II brings to the table an impressive package. The new multiplayer modes are plenty of fun, the song list is gigantic, and the practice mode is going to very much come in handy as you navigate the trials and tribulations of metal songs with 11 guitar solos and nine-minute rock epics.”

IGN (95/100) “Guitar Hero II takes everything that made the original game great and cranks it up to 11, maybe even 12. The Practice mode and ability to set individual difficulty levels in multiplayer are fantastic additions that really were our two biggest sticking points last time out.”

GameSpy (100/100) “It’s everything good about videogames in one package, forever encouraging you to play “one more song!” until it’s 3AM and the neighbors are yelling for you to turn down that racket.”

1UP (90/100)Aside from the bitchin’ new modes, Guitar Hero II is essentially the same game with new songs. Can’t really complain, though — the set list for the sequel is in some ways better than the original, mostly because of variety.”

I’ve read somewhere that Guitar Hero was coming out on all next-gen consoles but can anyone verify that?

Seems to be on 360 as well: http://au.xbox360.ign.com/objects/857/857449.html

    Personally I’d rather play a real guitar…
