The first Wii TV commercial that will be shown in Europe and US. Unlike many of the PS3 counterparts, this one looks quite simple and informative. Note: bad video and audio quality.
[Thanks, Isa]

1Now that is a commercial I can get behind. But man all that moving around … playing the Wii is going to be like getting a mini workout. I wonder how many people will really like that over the long haul?

2Large movements are not necessary and small movements are registered too. Many rest the controller by the side and wiggle it, or rest their arms on their lap.
Common misconception.

4I thought that commercial was really bad to be honest

5@Green Gecko — Oh that’s cool … then they need to show that as well because I know quite a few people after a busy day aren’t going to want to come home and have to do that to enjoy playing a video game.
@Sub … Only thing that was bad was they didn’t show how a person who is just relaxing can also enjoy the remote … everything was a bit to manic. But it was an entertaining commercial that raised my level of interest and really that is the aim.

6I thought it was clever, but really long, I wonder how they are going to show this on TV. I was a little weirded out by the two guys “would you like to play”? Once everyone has seen this, it’s gonna be made fun of big time. The Wii is destined to be a huge pop-culture icon, for good or bad, though I’m betting for good.

7It’s not “would you like to play” its “Wii would like to play”
That is the part I thought was kind of clever and also it now makes sense why they changed the name.

8Oh yeah my mother even liked that commercial and was actually excited about how the Wii plays … and she is in her late 50s so maybe Nintendo knows something a lot of people don’t. She liked the music as well and if MY mom likes a game console let me tell you that is proof to me it is going to wildly successful among average/casual gaming consumers … plus she was shocked by the price difference between the Wii and the PS/3 and all that technical stuff didn’t matter to her.
I think Nintendo really did do its research after seeing her reaction. She said she may even buy one herself for the bowling and tennis and she is hoping for a realistic slot machine/casino type game … which should be fairly easy to produce.

10Hey what happened to this commercial? I would really like to show it to some friends … does anyone have a new link?
