Best Buy To Give Empty-handed PS3 Campers An Xbox360 Deal
November 13th, 2006 by Steve Reddish in Business
Planning on camping out for the U.S. PS3 release at Best Buy? Worried that you may go home empty-handed? Fear not, for you will be able to go home with something, even if it wasn’t what you wanted.
According to a Best Buy’s retail protocol for selling the PS3, customers who waited in line but didn’t get a PS3 will be offered a launch day deal of an Xbox 360 Premium System and two game titles, with a third title at no cost. No word on if the two games being bundled into the deal will be the consumer’s choice or not.

That’s pretty stupid if you ask me … if people are going to wait in line for a PS3 it’s because that is what they want … what PS3 hopeful will settle for a 360 … you can buy those at anytime … there is no more waiting in line for those. Seems like a waste … but I would love to see some real numbers showing how many people just bought the 360 instead. I say Zero-one at best.

A couple [parents] may buy, but with the Wii two days later…
(but parents? at a system launch? how bizarre.)

No one who is waiting for a Sony console is going to walk away pleased they got a MS console instead. I see this going nowhere. And I don’t see parents who aren’t gamers themselves being in line for a system launch.

Let me get this straight, if you want a cheap xbox360, get in line, don’t buy the ps3, and they give you the cheap xbox360?

Huh? They don’t give you anything … they offer you the chance to buy a premium bundle and get a third game free. Unless I missed something.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. If you wan’t an Xbox360, and two games, wait in line of hours and hours and get the third game for free.

Ya but do you really want to wait that long for one free game…actually ya I wouldn’t mind. There is no reason why you couldn’t get a 360 between after the launch and now. If you really wanted a 360 you would have it right now. Those people camping out are Sony fanboys. They sure as hell don’t want a 360.
