Japanese Man Buys 100 PS3 Consoles

November 15th, 2006 by Kevin Cortez in News

A Japanese consumer named Eiji has revealed that he has managed to collect 100 PlayStation 3 consoles. The consoles include both 20 GB and 60 GB versions. Eiji has reported that he will be reselling all of the PS3s he has obtained.

I’m not too sure how someone can get so many PS3s at once, especially with the huge demand in Japan at the moment. One thing is for certain - Eiji is sure going to be rich by the end of this month or so; “used” PS3 consoles are already selling at over $1000 all over Japan.

Gimme a break! This is exactly what happens when you don’t have enough consoles (SONY!), the black market cmpeltely takes over.

  2. umdraco Says:

I think Sony should have sold the consoles for 1k at launch that way they would have made all the profit and it would keep others from making a profit

  3. Keil Joy Says:

here we are already experiencing shortages and some so-called ‘enterpreneur’ comes along and snatches up one hundred PS3s with the plans to resell them at inflated prices!! I hope his ass gets robbed!

  4. monir Says:

why must people be so selfish, hope he gets aids or someone sets fire to the house he is keeping those ps3’s in. but for someone to buy the ‘used’ ps3’s off ebay are only succumbing to the demand and are total idiots.

  5. Anuban Says:

That is so foul it is beyond belief … the world is really becoming even more of cess pool for slime that that to slough around in. This person will be punished by the Gods of karma best believe that … it is really incredible that especially at this time of year people can be so cold and so unflappably callous. It would have been so amazing if this guy decided to play Santa to a hospital full of sick and terminally ill children and give them each one or donate all of them to a children’s orhpanage or something along those lines. The world is a dark place … I just can’t wait for this whole launch shit to be over.

  6. greenthumb Says:

that dude is lame I hope he gets robbed just for been greedy . its a shame these kids are gone pay out the a** for a Ps3 because of jerks like that a**hole , I mean he must not have a heart . this is proof the Grinch is still alive . I can see buyin like 3 or 4 but he went a lil too far man

  7. Anuban Says:

yeah just a little … this dude stands to make anywhere from 100K-250K … it is so sad … I can’t express my disgust strongly enough … this and all these peoople that are going to price gouge others represent the new horrible nature of the holidays … GREED and SELF-INVOLVEMENT. The two things that should NEVER surface during this time of year. hell we have all year to be human … this is the time when we are all supposed to think of our fellow human beings … and just think … in another 5-6 years we get to do this all over again. Yay.

  8. monir Says:

oddly enough, if you check on ebay, they are not selling for as much as i thought(up to £2000), i think people are generally ignoring them, the higest is just over £1000, which is double the price but still, i could get an amazing pc at that price, only someone thats braindead would get one at that price.

  9. The Wicker Man Says:

god so what…ppl r dumb enough to pay 1500-2000k on this y not make alittle money? I know it s mean but shit lol easy cash for him, i m just wondering how he got so much?Secondly sony sucks ps1 =awesome ps2 = ????? not so good and ps3=same ported games as 360 and 360 has better games for it s self….ninja gaiden2,gears of war, halo wars, halo 3,dead rising, crysis, many more that s just the start blue dragon…..theyre the same but now we have hd movies and hd games.Like John Carmack said ”ps3 might keyword might a little faster but hell to make games for.Now how built most of ur engines from cod,sof,sof2, and many more games….

  10. Anuban Says:

No man … you don’t get it do you … that is a very specious argument and it falls flat … it is never okay to take advantage of someone’s desperation or their “supposed” ignorance … never. It is morally absurd to do such … especially given all that is going on in Today’s world. There are lots of parents that are going to really be put out because there child has to have this and that is just wrong. The meaning of Christmas and charity and being kind to your fellow man has been completely lost this Holiday Season. Thank goodness that the big retail stores have at least starting saying “Merry Christmas” over here in America .. that “Happy Holidays” crap that was going on here in California last year was driving me insane.

I was watching the news and they were talking about there being still 35 million Americans still dealing with hunger/food problems … and the homeless at this time of year have it sooo badly … people just want to do their two days in a kitchen in a shelter and then try to feel about that but there is so much more that we can do. But not at this time of year anymore …not with this happening. Like I said the great equalizer is Karma and it will catch up to the people who really deserve it … like this Japanese fellow. Karma always comes … and when you least expect it.

  11. monir Says:

35 million in america:(, theres over a billion that are hungry right now in the world, well at least some people got their ps3’s.

  12. Anuban Says:

I know that but remember the U.S. is the land of opportunity and the leading industrialized country so we should have far less than that. Of course when you look at the entire world that is on a totally different scale and there are so many poor countries … what to do… But what not to do is exploit people and that is all these DAMN scalpers are doing … PERIOD.

  13. Jertje Says:

    Haha, score for that guy.
Better to be a business-criminal-asshole than a braindead consumer willing to overpay for shitty products they don’t need.

  14. greenthumb Says:

all this does is give Sony more hype really and wickerman wth are you talkin about man . The ps1/ps2 were great and had great games ,you sound like one hell of a fanboy . I dont care about First person shooters man they aint my style . there is no point gettin in to a my console is better then yours arguement . buy what you like if you like first person shooters then buy a 360 , if you like Rpgs and adventure games then Sony is great at those. really both consoles will have somethin one doesnt so in the long run its best to get both the hell with the fanboyism . but really I hope this guy gets mugged by the yakuza lol if he’s in Japan

Grow up, people. It’s called Capitalism. It’s why you have a job and can get everything you can get whenver you want. Buy low sell high. Crybabies. You’re all just bitching because you didn’t think of it first, or didn’t have the means to pull it off. Starving children? Come on! You people are hilarious. It’s a product. Like a hamburger or diamond ring. It’s got nothing to do with starving. It’s all relative. To some 1k is as 100 is to others. This guy’s smart. And the people who buy from him will be ecstatic. He gets all the profit he deserves and you all get what you’ve earned. A pity party on a forum! Whoohoo!

  16. Anuban Says:

Well we know what kind of person you are. And You are the one who is hilarious if you think every person lives to rip other people off .. even if it does carry some label like Capitalism. Smart people see through the BS … you don’t take that to mean whatever you want it to. Anyway someone like you is not worth anymore of my time .. I can’t speak for anyone else … and neither should you be. Maybe you are secretly pissed off you didn’t think of being a blatant asswipe first but I sure in hell am not and I don’t believe most of the other DECENT KARMA fearing people on this thread are either. So do us all a favor and dry up and blow away. And do yourself a favor … save any witty commentary you may have for some other thread because THIS is the only response you will illicit from me … PERIOD. I have a strong aversion to carrying on intelligent conversations with primates. Have a nice day.

  17. RealistOne Says:

Anuban, you should get out more. You seem tense. And for not speaking for others, you sure use the word “we” a lot. What’s up with that? Look, my opinion has nothing to do with thinking people are out to rip each other off or anything like it. It’s based on the fact that we all live under a contract with rules and laws. You know, The Constitution? And this big problem you’re all in a huff about is a result of that contract and those rules, not some free-wheeling “bad” individual who’s gone off on some mad rampage. It’s really simple actually, look: The computer you’re typing on, the chair you’re sitting on, the food you’ll eat later, the toilet handle you’ll flush, the PS3 you will or won’t buy — is all made possible by the same simple thing — supply and demand. The free market. Yes, Anuban, Capitalism. Now you may not like it, and that’s fine, but we can’t very well pretend it’s not there, can we? If it makes you feel better to think PS3s are different than any other product or service you use, then so be it. But that wouldn’t be an educated position, it would just be a pretend position, which really doesn’t help anyone here does it? Take the PS3s. The demand is there, the supply is scarce, so the price goes up. Whether this guy does it or anyone else. It’s inevitable. Get it? It’s what the stock market is based on, and the price of bread, and the price of games and part of why we no longer live in caves like those relatives you’re so fond of — the Primates. And this guy isn’t some “evil” or “bad” guy. He’s an opportunist. And the system’s based on him seeking out opportunity. That’s why they call it the “Land of Opportunity”. Have you heard about this, Anuban? He’s not breaking any laws, or hurting anybody, or eroding the common good. He’s buying GAME CONSOLES at under-market and selling them at-market. So get a grip, huh? Especially because these aren’t NEEDED things. This isn’t food or water, or medication, or educational material. They’re entertainment boxes used to pass time(and from what I hear, ones that still need some work). So how could you possibly take such an obviously frivolous thing and somehow try and elevate it into these larger, grander humanistic issues? It’s totally laughable. I mean, come on. Even you have to see this, Anuban. And Karma? Are you kidding? Like there’s some Karma God who regulates gaming pleasure. Like gaming pleasure is some sanctimonious thing that all humans must attain and have the sacred right to participate in. Right. This is why I’m laughing. And this is why your comments are ridiculous. It is Capitalism, Anuban. Supply and demand. Buy low sell high. Nothing more. Nothing less. And just because you’re not enjoying whittling away useless hours in cyberland on these new boxes, doesn’t mean others aren’t. They are. And they’re having fun. Lots of it, Anuban. Lots and lots of it. Which I recommend you try and do, even if it’s not on this year’s PS3. Because getting mad at the “guy” or “me” or the big bad Sony monster, isn’t going to help you. Try getting mad at your country, or your parents, or your forefathers, or yourself for being an uneducated supporter of a system you supposedly loathe. Or move. Or try Socialism, or maybe camping. There’s no supply and demand in the forest, Anuban. There’s only trees. Unless you bring your own Marshmallows, or hot dogs, or Coke or Budweiser, or Eddie Bauer sleeping bag — but that’s complicating things, never mind. The point is to get outside. And here’s the big take away: If you like PS3 and really want it, you’ll buy it when you can afford it. Whether that’s now on Ebay for $1,100, or next year at Target when it’s cheaper and you can afford it. If you don’t want it, you won’t buy it. Period. Meanwhile, realize that this is just all part of Sony’s distribution plan, and Capitalism at large, and regular people operating within that system, and really a small issue in such a large Universe. And getting mad at people for exercising their rights — the cornerstone of the United States — just won’t help you in the long run. Will it? And on top of all this, try smiling, have fun, walk on the beach, fall in love, have a Popsicle for crying out loud. And by God, if you’re going to be passionate — which is a great thing — be educated too. That way you won’t look like such an ass when you pick fights in random forums with people who, unlike yourself, have already graduated from that Master Class called Reality.
