Nintendo revealed that they plan to have 400,000 Wii consoles ready for the Japanese launch on December 2nd, four times the amount of PS3 consoles available at launch earlier this week. Nintendo plans to sell 4 million consoles worldwide in 2006, and another 2 million before March 2007. They also announced that shipments of DS Lite will increase to 1,5 million in December in Japan, to cope with the holiday sales.
Nintendo didn’t reveal how many units will be available for the American launch on November 17, or the European launch on December 8. Of the 4 million consoles in 2006, it’s most likely that half will go to the US, and the remaining 2 million divided between the Japanese and European markets.

1Sorry but to me 400,000 Wii divided by 80,000 PS3 is not 4 times but 5 times…

2Think at least 400,000 for the US launch, Europeans will probably get around 100,000, maybe 250,000-500,000 in total in 2006, the rest is going to Japan and US.
