Another day, another group of analysts, another possible winner of the console war. According to financial powerhouse Merrill Lynch, Microsoft’s Xbox360 will have 39% of the worldwide market share in 2011, followed by the PS3 at 34% and the Wii with 27%.
Furthermore, Merrill Lunch says the Xbox360 will have 50% of the market share in the US, while on the Japanese side, Sony will be the dominant part with 57% of the market share. Nintendo’s Wii wasn’t mentioned.

At this stage of the race I don’t know how anyone can possibly declare a winner … these guys really don’t have a clue about REAL gaming … like software will really help determine the winner so how can you predict unless you know all the upcoming titles on all the platforms .. and even then you’d have to have an extensive grasp of the genres and the sub-genres … so these guys make me laugh … they are basically weathermen. I’ll wait for a couple of years before I take a stance on who will win.

Wait until 3 months after the launch and these “so called analysts” will quickly change their minds.

I agree with nanshi im an american and would like to see the xbox succeed. The way to do it isnot to worry about graphics and use the xbox muscle it has and make some kick butt games.Im35 years old and i still look back on somegames of old that will make me a gamer 4 life is the sense of adventure in a game newworlds to explore.Iwould buy some basic games with sharp graphics with slow game play like a shadow gate or like some of the older D&D games i think the video game industry is over looking all those die hard fans of fantasy.Look at bulders gate great game for the pc theres no reason any of todays consoles cant get back to making truely fun games like those. thx for listning HAPPY HOLLIDAYS folks

Well it really doesn’t matter how old something is when it comes to overall market share. I never heard that argument back in the PS2 vs Xbox days and we all know the PS2 had a headstart on the Xbox. The fact is all three consoles play in the next generation space so that is what you have to look at overall. According to Sony anyway the one year lead that the 360 has was not supposed to mean much if anything but in reality we see something very different. MS took a chance on being the first and it has paid off.

The xbox has probably lost already, its best games are out, or almost out, and the failure rates dont lie, the xbox really is crap, most americans will just have to take, their not the best at everything, the japs have won, and will win this generation again, the big battle is between WII and PS3, everyone can see that, the xbox is being outsold everywhere, by even the PSP and PS3, so i dont see how it could possibly become popular again, halo 3 wont finish the fight, and neither will GoW2
