Nintendo announced some details about their midnight launch event in New York City. Most importantly, Nintendo has confirmed that President Reggie Fils-Aime will be present at the event to sell the first few consoles. The event, taking place at the New York Toys R’ Us and starting at 12:01 AM, will also include live performances as well as interactive gaming with Wii fans.
A similar event will also be held in Los Angeles, however, guests for this event have yet to be announced. Several other nationwide retailers are also expected to hold midnight launch events.

1Hopefully people will behave in a more civilized fashion for the Wii launch and it’s low price point means that people can’t charge outrageous amounts for it on eBay … that and the fact there will be 3x as many PS3 units available.
