triforce_Recieveing_Wii.jpgThe Wii launch in comparison to the recent PS3 one, has gone as smooth as can be. There were no police, no people being trampled and no one running into a pole in a rush to get their console. Instead of only allowing a select few people in, Nintendo allowed everyone into their launch festivities, which included demo stands being set up on the sidewalk, to stop boredom.

In Times Square the first Wii buyer Isaiah “Triforce” Johnson, was apparently wearing the old Nintendo Power Glove when he was greeted by Reggie Fils-Aime. Who presented him with his signed console, as well as playing some Wii sports with some of the people in the crowd.

From what is known so far, it appears there has been very little disappointment. The majority of the people who waited received a Wii, without having to camp out a few days earlier. Reports say that the crowd was diverse, suggesting that Nintendo might have achieved its goal of marketing to lots of different groups.

This marks the first time all three competing next-gen consoles are out in the US.
