Dead or Alive creator Tomonobu Itagaki has confirmed that a fifth edition of the fighting game is in the works. He announced the news during the 10th anniversary party in Tokyo, and although he didn’t mention what platform it would be released on, it’s probably going to be another Microsoft exclusive, like the previous 4 games.

1Forget all that jiggling sh%t .. this is one of the best fighting games around these days and I’m looking forward to DOA5 …hopefully they improve Ryu’s hand to hand techniques … he’s great and all and teleportion is the bomb move but his hand skills leave a little to be desired when you put him up against my other main fighter Christy … she is too quick for him most of the time. But since he is so powerful (especially his kicks) it doesn’t take many blows to make her fall. And that is why I also hope that make Christy a bit more durable and increase here inflicted damage just a bit.
Also I hope they revamp that harder than hell counter system … it is just too much … I rarely counter correctly so I just really on offensive skills and blocking when possible, which sucks when the AI decides it doesn’t want to lose. Which is yet another thing I hope they fix … the cheap AI that will suddenly become invincible to the point where it anticipates and counters ANYTHING you do. And they should add one lower difficulty setting just for practicing and having fun. Still as many times as I have popped a blood vessel and smashed dishes like there was no tomorrow I love this game even more than SC II. I especially like whipping the wrestlers who are damn good with their counters …

2yeah i’m glad that they are making another DOA… 4 was probably my favorite one. i agree with you anuban, they definitely need to rework the whole counter system and AI… the end boss on DOA 4 was sooo cheap, i’d have to play her several times to find my own cheap way of beating her…

3You mean the Infamous Green Witch who uses who teleport power so cheaply it is really unbelievable … but now when I play as Ryu since I know his teleport move I can beat her … until the AI goes all crazy and raises the difficulty by a factor of 3 … then there is just no way you can win.
I did have a great streak though when I was at my best on this game. I beat the AI 50 times (against almost everyone on the roster … I was playing as Christy at the time) in a row and no matter how it tried to ramp up and counter and block everything I could think of I found a way to win. But yeah other than that I usually can’t beat it more than 10 times straight without it automatically kicking up the difficulty another notch or two.

8but you get to see holly valance do a half naked fight…kinda. don’t you guys fell that the beat-em-ups are kind of getting way too repetitive, they are all exactly the same, you generally have to find the technique for ultimate cheapness for the character your using. the only beat-em-up i really really enjoyed was soul calibur, its more original since it has a story line and weapons, upgradable weapons at that. anyway they’re just all poor tbh.

9Soul Caliber II ranks as probably the finest fighting game ever and my favorite of all time .. Maxi was unbeatable when wielded him
And Kilik sure isn’t a slouch either … those two could take any tag team on :p … but I don’t agree about the repetitive nature of the genre. DOA4 is chock full of so many good moves that once you really learn a character there are so many ways you can use that character to defeat the AI. Usually you don’t have to do the same thing twice … generally the AI punishes you if you try that. Almost every victory requires some amount of creativity thanks to the super hard counter system and how well the AI makes use of it after you win just a couple of fights. Now the MK series just sucks and not even the latest release could salvage that. Talk about repititious moves and clunkly animations. Yuuckk.

11I agree with both Anuban and Felicia. Dead or alive is the best and MK’s animation sucks. The animation on doa is by far the best I have ever seen on any fighting game. The graphics on doa was the best till games like gears of wars and bioshock came out. But wait till doa 5. I have a feeling that Tecmo (Team Ninja) will just Slaughter everyone graphically.
O, and I’m not the type of person that say’s a game is good only cause it looks good. Doa’s gameplay rocks, the action is awesome, it’s a fast pace game, nice cut scenes, cinema, and hot babes like KASUMI!!
