WiiCade Released

November 20th, 2006 Posted in News

WiiCade.jpgWiiCade has officially opened today. It is a site compromised of artists and coders, who have worked hard to add more games to the Wii’s launch list. The site uses flash based games to allow the user to play them on the Wii’s web browser. All the games use the Wii controller to replace the actions usually performed by a mouse. The quality of the games are quite high, and it is fairly easy to see how some of them, Table Tennis for instance, would be playable on the Wii.

My only concern is about how well the Wii handles Flash. Being a console its flash capabilities might not be as up to scratch as a regular computer. It is however great to see some home brew development, and this might encourage further web based games for the Wii in the future.
