As we all know, the Xbox360 was released one year ago, giving it a full year head start on the competition. Bill Gates, Microsoft’s former CEO and current chairman, wouldn’t have it any other way, despite the hoopla surrounded the launch of the PS3 and Wii. In an interview with CNet, Gates says,
“You know, Sony can make 80,000 bricks, and people would buy them. So the real competition–you’re going to see the impact of our innovation and all the momentum we have in Christmas 2007. This Christmas, the story is: Xbox360 is going to sell super-well, and they’ll sell the rounding error amounts they can make.”
Microsoft currently leads the console wars by several million (around 7 million, according to NexGenWars), and they expects that number to reach 10 million by July next year.

2Microsoft could tell everyone they were innovative and people would buy that. So what’s your point Bill?
