Buying At Launch Has Its Downside
Reports of Wii errors have been propping up on the Internet recently. Supposedly, the error is caused by a recent update made by the the WiiConnect24 service, the service which keeps the Wii online even in stand-by. It is certainly not the first time we have heard of launch cases like this, neither will it be the last. The question is, just how many units are effected at present? Judging by the amount of reports coming in, it sounds like a pretty small amount.
The error is shown on the screen as a code, the most common of which are 110213 and 32002. Nintendo are handling the error in the usual way. They will replace the Wii free of charge, the downside is that this could take up to 2 weeks, due to the Wii shortages. So if you have waited in line for hours, only to receive this error, then you have another long wait until you get your Wii again. It certainly wasn’t a very impressive first system update.

I just can’t get over how fortunate I am … I got my 360 premium at launch and have never had a major problem with it. I think it has done the red ring twice since I’ve owned it and both times it was solved by simply powering the console down and then powering it up again. And I have played for as long as 12 hours straight with no issues whatsoever. I do feel for the folks who have problems with any gaming console they are actually trying to game on and not sale.

Anuban you’re very lucky that you don’t have any problems with your launch 360 premium. This news is a shame knowing that Nintendo usually has the most reliable hardware but I had a feeling with the new motion sensoring controls would produce problems but I was wrong.
All of the servors of the Wii’s online channels should have been up before launch. There wouldn’t be this kinda of problem. This just shows how inexperience Nintendo is with online connectivity.

I never had a problem with my 360 til i got Gears of War. It overheats after about an hour and a bit now so the game must really push it. Ill just buy one of those nifty fans for the back
Got mates who had 360s commit suicide and munch discs within the first week of launch though so i was just lucky.
From what ive heard with Wii most units were patched in the factory but a few came with an upgrade disc and that caused the problems.
Before casting too many stones though remember that about a month ago when Microsoft released its last major patch 360s were refusing to boot and even turn on after it was installed. That’s with a years experience of patching it and they made a mistake

True, true. I forgot all about that.

Yes I am lucky .. and I played for Hours straight when I first got it the Day it shipped and still no issues. But I do have it in a very well ventilated area and I use the NYKO fan add on which is noisy but seems to do the job. And actually when I game the sound is so loud on my 5.1 setup that I never hear the fan. And yes Ruin3d you make an excellent point. Such is the business of software/firmware … there is always the possibility of some small screw up. Which is why I hate mandatory updates.

Oh what I meant was I played Gears for hours on end. I think I once played it for four-five straight hours before I just said this game blows. This was after having to repeat one part about 10 times because my damn squad kept getting themselves and then me killed. Lousy partner AI, overly powerful/accurate and durable enemies (on hardcore), and crappy weapons just proved more than I could stomach.
And that whole Kryll thing just kept reminding me off Pitch Black so much I hated it … still do. How no reviewer made the connection is beyond me. I think they purposely overlooked it or have their heads way deep up Epic/MSs a-hole. GRRR I detest that game yet I know one day I will have to muster the will to complete the last two chapters on hardcore (casual is too much of a joke once you know the enemies are weaker that you … the drones that is … 250 HP to your 300 … while on hardcore they are 550 to your 300 … that is just crazy). I am really looking forward to Stranglehold to finally enjoy a UE3 game .. I know I am going to love that game.

Yeah pretty sure my problem is just needing one of those add-on fans. It did the same thing yesterday after two hours, left it an hour and could play again. I’ll go find a fan today for it.
Have to admit i quite like the game though. Although have to say Anu is totally right on the team member thing. Got so pissed off with the Beserker in the greenhouse stage because it kept failing me by killing my team mate
