Linux WoW Players Unbanned

November 23rd, 2006 Posted in News

linux_tux.pngAs we previously reported, a bunch of Linux World of Warcraft players were banned for no apparent reason. Supposedly, WoW detected Cedega as a third party cheating application. After the countless complaints and e-mails, Blizzard has resolved the problem, and successfully unbanned all of the people who were wrongfully banned.

The company says that the reason they detected Cedega as a cheat is because the software used to detect those type of programs sees basically anything that isn’t related to Blizzard as a threat. As a way of saying sorry, they have been given 20 days of free playing time. However, we are unsure if those users will still have their saved accounts. At least they care about the minority.
