Gears Of War: Why End At Three?
Recent rumors have suggested that there are plans to make Gears of War a trilogy, yet Mark Rein, Epic Games boss, has responded by saying why stop at three, if people want more want more?
Responding to rumors on the company forum, Rein stated that the life of the game might be longer than we thought.
“Gears is a trilogy? If we can keep making quality games that fans obviously want then why would we have to stop at three,”
He later goes on to compare the series with the likes of Final Fantasy and Super Mario.
“I don’t see the Metal Gear Solid, Mario, Grand Theft Auto or Final Fantasy series (among others) stopping at three and they’re still delivering compelling entertainment content that’s easily worth the money”
Is this wishful thinking, or will Marcus Fenix really become as famous as Nintendo’s plumber? Obviously as long as people are interested and willing to buy more Gears of War games, Epic will keep them coming. But they’ll have to make more than just sequels in order to compete with long standing series like Final Fantasy and Zelda.

Please dear Lord NO. Please stop this madness at three and improve it along the way. My goodness how their egos have exploded into the Universe because of all the brown nosing perfect reviews and the fact that people got bored after two plus years of Halo 2 and turned to something else. What’s the big deal about that and why is that so hard to believe. Again let’s just wait and see how long Gears remains at the top of that list with all the other MUCH MORE original and innovative games coming out in 2007. There is a saying about not believing your own press clippings and the associated hype … but Epic must never have heard that one.

OH HELL NO!! There is no fucking way that the Gears trilogy will even match up to one Final Fantasy. There is no way. Gears is way overhyped and very overated. 2 be honest I think Gears is just a shallow repetitive game that tricks you into thinking it’s good by it’s awesome graphics. SUPER MARIO BROS. KICKS GEAR’S ASS ANY FUCKING DAY! Really how many of you will be interested in Gears 2 when you’re playing Halo 3 for 2-3 years. Gears has served it purpose as being a Halo 3 appetizer and will never get these kind of numbers again.

Exactly … what do they think … every other developer is just going to sit back and watch as Gears steam rolls them into oblivion? I think not. Look for the good development houses to “step into the ring” with this behemoth and land a few solid blows of their own.

One thing I am certain they will address in Gears 2 is the story. Maybe the cover mechanic as well but definitely the story and hopefully they will greatly improve the Friendly A.I. (I am tired of them always committing suicide) and weapons firepower so you aren’t FORCED into playing Co-op on hardcore without going through a great deal of frustration.

OMG that is really not saying much for Gears
those original movie are horrible 95% of the time.

I just got done watching the HD-DVD version of pitch black and I really honestly want to know are the reviewers and the gamers who are J**king off to this game really that incompetent and blinded by the visuals to the point of sheer stupidity (and I know I am being harsh) or did MS and Epic really get to the reviewers first and pay them off …
Because there is no way in HELL you could miss the unmitigated blatant rip off that CliffyB and his team pulled. NO WAY! How could it be that NO ONE mentioned the fact that the Kryll are a CARBON COPY of the creatures in Pitch Black … there is NO difference … I really am now convinced reviwers are purposely omitting this fact and gamers are just sticking their heads in the sand just like that big creature that doesn’t see anything but spits crap out of its anus. And what really gets me is not even Epic has acknowledges Pitch Black’s role in all of this. As if they came up with this completely unoriginal idea on their own. WTF!!!!! I have a lost an enormous amount of respect for CliffyB and for Epic as well.
If I didn’t have to learn to develop for that damn UE3 due to it’s ubiquitous nature I would probably never touch another Epic product again. I am officially off of their bandwagon. If I had any real power you can bet I would be making a huge deal out of this all over the airwaves. The whole Kryll thing was one of the chapters they were bragging about the most! Can you believe that SHYT?! Bragging about some other writer’s work without giving them any credit … AT ALL. I just don’t know how this slipped through the radar and I just don’t believe that CliffyB is being heralded as the next John Carmack when all he did was rip off a number of other people’s ideas and glome them together into one of the worst stories ever. And for this people are going crazy and giving perfect scores (all because of how it looks?). It defies all logic and really points to a nasty conspiracy within the gaming industry. After re-watching Pitch Black again I will never believe otherwise.

Okay … I will say this. The Kryll don’t APPEAR to feed on eachother when the food source is low … but who really knows. And okay they don’t appear to spend much time on the ground. And most importantly the Kryll ALWAYS attack in numbers (unlike certain parts of PB which had only one or two attacking). But that is really it and those small things are inconsequential to the overall point I was making above. One thing I have to add is that as much I liked Vinnie in this movie … he wouldn’t have lasted a half a second against the Kryll … he would be dead. But I just think those scenes in Pitch Black when there was only one or two creatures were more for movie effect than to be somewhat realistic.
I know someone will want to point out how the Kryll protect the Big Boss in Gears … which really doesn’t make any sense considering how they go after everything else. Maybe someone would care to explain that part to me. Does he have some kind of device that controls them? Sorry but that lame reason Epic gave … “He is at one with the Kryll” just doesn’t work for me.

Finally a review that makes sense … and they even noticed the whole Pitch Black thing … unlike the others.

And they gave the game an 80% so clearly they were tired of all the crap as well and finally brought some good sense and honesty to the table. Still if anyone else does find an honest review that mentions Pitch Black please let me know … maybe I missed it somehow.

I didn’t even catch that! Cliffy mentioned RE4 and Halo2 but no Pitch Black. Why isn’t no one else catching on 2 this. Gears will never match the greatness of RE4 or Halo 2. I’m so sick of this shit. Gears is garbage. Can anyone else point out why not or any of the original ideas that Gears has.

Whatever you do NEVER EVER have any confidence in the reviews given by Digital Entertainment News. There is NO WAY IN H-E-L-L anyone can convince me they were NOT paid off. No way. I have checked all the reviews and no other site had such a HUGE discrepancy in their reviews of the two games than this site.
They gave Gears a 95% or 9.5/10 while giving Zelda only a meager 8.1. Can you believe that! They just single-handedly almost made the respective overall scores equal. This is an OUTRAGE and there is no way that was an impartial review. I will never patronize that site again. Even Game was within 5 points of both games (though I do question them giving TP an 85 which really affected the average) … wow. I hope someone in the gaming industry who has a blog or does editorials points this glaring bias out. It is truly unbelievable. So watch and see … I am almost positive it won’t stop until Gears is actually a bit ahead of TP on the game rankings … and I know Mark Rein is behind this …
I met him … at the GDC 2004 and let me tell you he is the most arrogant person I have ever met and I have met a ton of people in my life and travels. His smugness was overwhelmingly palatable as he showed off the UE3 and the then unanmes Gears. He is definitely THE biggest Jerk in the gaming industry and that is saying so so much. So yeah something is just plain WRONG here. Remember boycott that site DEN by staying away from it and never taking their reviews into account for any game. I would never trust them again. Creeps.

wow guys maybe its not the fact that they took ideas from other people maybe its the fact that the GAMEPLAY is more realistic than halo(or the one man army) i enjoy halo but if you were to try to make a game real you would be taking cover, blind-firing, dodgeing, finding ways to reload faster and not be able to take a million hits causre of your super suit and plasma shield, Epic said they wanted to make it more real and they did Gears is a good game, yes the storyline is vague but maybe they were trying to make you think like the soldier you are(in game at least) and follow orders first figure out why later, as you can see in game Marcus doesnt agree whith Hoffman’s plan but he does it still so just accept a good game as what it is and stop trying to make a seen by opposing it with pages and pages of stupid crap to bash on the recycling what something looks like

Alot of gamers should know that the 360 can’t do those graphics for crap! considering that since this is epic that made the game and besides they used Unreal Engine 3 to make people think that the 360 can do these kind of graphics when we all know if epic made Gears of War for PS3 it would look the same or better but knowing there’s alot of retarded gamers thinking that Gears of War is using the 360 graphics card to make the graphics happen in Gears of War gamers would have to be extremely moronic to actually believe that I’ve played the game the game sucked and got lied to badly
alot of the gamers in the U.S are %99 retarded it so obvious that the PS3 can do these kind of graphics and make gamers think its astonishing when really the game is using Unreal Engine 3 to make these kind of graphics thats not even the true power of the 360 this game got hyped way to much and lied to as well I didn’t even bother doing hardcore or insane considering this game is complete crap! even Resistance Fall of Man beats this game any day lol for those who actually think that Gears of War rocks needs to check there brain or have a brain transplant.

And plus alot of those gamers were mostly interested on the weapon that has a chainsaw atattched to it and the graphics and thats it there’s only some of the gamers that were only interested on the game play
this is why PS3 is better and plus 360 is only doing well in america and not in other country’s but of course Wii is beating 360 and PS3 for now but when the games come for PS3 the PS3 is going to catch up.
