The Sims Wii Officially Announced
November 24th, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Adventure, Multiplayer, Offbeat, Online, Simulation, Strategy, Wii
EA has announced The Sims Wii, and the official website reveals the first screenshots of the game. While no gameplay details have been announced, it looks rather “childish”, with Mii like characters and environment. Judging from the first set of screenshots, the game looks rather terrible, and doesn’t share much with previous Sims games. More screens after the jump.

Yep, EA’s lost it. Oh and Red Steel isn’t as bed as IGN and other reviews have said.

Bad, sorry.

WTF IS THIS!? This mess looks like Animal Crossing. This is exactly why the Wii gets the bad rep it does. Seriously I’m thinking the GameCube all over again if the Nintendo stops the kiddy image it has. Nintendo needs 2 really make sure that there getting violent T rated and above games 4 the Wii. Nintendo speaks of games for everyone when really it’s not.
It’s a kiidy family oriented system and it shows. Sure I’m still getting one but if they still want 2 be successful in the long run the need violent games on the Wii that have you stabbing somebody with the Wiimote or something like that. Is it me or did Nintendo lied when it said that the Wii was roughly 2-3 times more powerful that the Cube. Becuase so far it hasn’t shown at all. Developers need 2 stop being lazy and start really tapping into the Wii graphical power. The freaking PS2 kills Wii in graphics and new systems are supposed to look better than old ones!

This game looks alright. I can see the charm in it. Probably wouldn’t buy it for myself though.. But I’d play it if a friend had it and lent it etc.
November 25th, 2006 at 1:50 pm
updated list
super mario galaxy
metroid 3
truama center second opinion
red steel
Call of duty 3
and all the virtual console games
an inbuild browser, news channel and weather channel
the x360 has none of the virtual console or internet browser etc.
the only good things it has is gears of war and dead rising

Since when do games have to have stabbing people to be fun and enjoyable? There are alot of grown ups, not just women, who enjoyed Animal Crossing and games like that. Just because there aren’t blood guts and gore doesn’t mean that its only for kids. Frankly I think blood guts and gore sucks and I want games like these with fun stuff to do and great graphics. You can be an adult and like games like this.
I love this, I can’t wait for it, two big thumbs up from me!

But will the general market place share your views over time? Especially one more year out when HD games are more impressive than ever (Sony’s 2nd gen next gen games and MS’ 3rd gen) … whether they be blood and guts or not. Hopefully because I would still like to get one at some point but from what I have seen so far I am just not impressed at all. Still there are millions of little kids so even if adults are not, by and large, attracted to the Wii it should still meet with solid demand from children.

“You can be an adult and like games like this.”
You can but I’m sure there are a lot of others who don’t. I mean I like Mario Bros. and Super Monkey and other fun rated E games but does the majority of the Wii’s library have 2 be like this?
Ninty gets bad reps for this. You can have all these kiddy games but there would be a lot of people who won’t buy the Wii becuase of that reason. You can have bloody gory Wii fun and family oriented stuff. Look at the PS2. You need the best of both worlds.

Great graphics doesn’t always mean realistic.

Or detailed.

Hey, everybody should chill out. Its NOT NINTENDO THAT IS IN CHARGE OF THIS GAME’S GRAPHICS. EA is the one who made the graphical decision. Stop b****ing.

I bought my Wii for 3 reasons. 1. Zelda. 2. The remote. 3. The group games. Games you can play with a group of friends when they stop by. Something to do when your sitting around getting drunk. Can’t wait for Wii Play and mario party to come out. I’d gladly spend 250 for my Wii, to have that, than pay 600 dollars for a PS3 or 400 for a xbox 360. The games I bought for PS2, I could of bought for my PC, so I’d rather save my money.

Um this is EA decision to make the game. First off it’s for Japan. Second japanese people like this style of gaming. If one you don’t know EA isn’t to big in japan and is trying to be by bringing this game out. Stop complaining no one said you had to buy it.

Anime/Chibi resemblance + Sims = BEST GAME EVER!!!
Perfect for Japanese who are into this stuff AND Anime fanatics (I.e. Me.)
Stop complaining about how it looks. You don’t like it? Don’t buy it! Let the people who want to buy it just buy it and stop whinging about how you think they ruined the sims.
December 12th, 2006 at 11:52 am
Well I think it’s an interesting change. I may be overly into the whole Harajuku and Japanese style, but I still think I should have a word that gets listened to.
It may be very cutesy, but it’s a very cool change. I would love to see some Wi-Fi features (like, umm, THE WHOLE GAME, MUHAHAHA).
Plus, if you expand on the above request, think about a traditional Sims on the Wii. I know other consoles with online features have the Sims avalible, but no online parts of the games.
Hmmm, so Nintendo, wouldn’t it be *inovative* to do this?
December 17th, 2006 at 8:47 am
