Tauryn Robert Hodge and Gerald Anthony Keys, two teens from Elk Grove, California, must have thought they had the perfect plan to score some PS3s. What was it? Quite simply, they stole PS3s after hours and then phoned the cops about an armed burglary at the GameStop store they worked at. Their plan might have worked, until the cops “felt there was more to the investigation than meets the eye” and busted the teens. Hodge was also charged for filing a false police report. Both have posted a bail and are no longer in police custody, while the consoles haven’t been found yet.

That is so crazy … I live in the vicinity of that place and I was actually in there just days before the PS3 launch and I could swear I overheard a couple of the young employees talking and laughing about a plot to get some extra PS3s to sell on ebay for thousands of dollars, but at the time I didn’t give their conversation a second thought. I’m going in that store tomorrow and attempt to find out the real story from the manager. Wow just wow. Life is really unpredictable and insane … as if we all weren’t aware of that already.

Well with a heavy heart I must say I confirmed this story … wow. This is so sad and it underscores what STD said unfortunately. I knew both of the young black men involved and one did work there and he and the other employee let his knucklehead friend sway him. I know his black parents are sick after moving to such a nice new community like Elk Grove … which has enough racial tension as it is … this won’t help young honest black men looking for employment. That is the sad truth of it all. This is a real tragedy and I feel for all the gamers, for those kids families, and the employees that trusted them. This one latino young man told me that the one young black male that I knew (just from going there and talking gaming) had worked there for two years. And to do something so STUPID … it really makes me sad.

Anuban really said all there was to be said. I was raised better than 2 do things like this. It’s shit like this that gets me really irritated. I work at JCP and on black friday I had 57 20-dollar bills in my cash registor(excuse me for my horrible spelling) and most of the lights were out so the camera couldn’t see me. U think I took one of them? Hell no! I know better than that. I only wish those stupid PS3 thieves knew better.

I just wanted to say that after reading this story in both the Sac Bee and online, I went to that Game Stop and saw one of the teens working!!! WTF?! I could’ve gotten one of those PS3’s because I stood in line at that same Game Stop to preorder but there were only 10 available to preorder. umm…scratch that…6 available…considering the manager could’ve been part of the whole PS3 crime ring since the teens are still employed there!

Are you certain they are still working there … because when I went by to confirm this I was told they were fired. Maybe you didn’t know who it was. And they are teens … When you turn 19 I consider that a young adult not a teen any longer … but yes technically I guess you could call them that. Still I am positive they were fired.

You all don’t know what you are talking about. The two teens did not know each other at all and Hodge had nothing to do with it. His life was threatened by the other teens that if Hodge didn’t go along with it his boys would get crazy and take him out. There were masked robbers that came into the store and took PS3’s. Get the story straight before you print anything else.

What are you talking about … I talked to the store manager about this just the other day. I have my facts straight and I was there when they were having the conversation as I said earlier … and I know who is still working there and who is new since that is where I buy my games. If you see me I am the one tall thin black man with the long hair … around those parts I am pretty much unmistakeable as no one in that area looks like me. So come up to me and say something next time you see me in the store please otherwise you need to quit while you are still ahead.

Hey Anuban,
I saw one of the “young men” named above in the article on Black Friday. I don’t know if he still works there but on the day after Thxgiving, I saw him.
