Xbox360 Kills Amazon For Fifteen Minutes
November 25th, 2006 by George Lester-Pearson in Business
This Thanksgiving, Amazon ran a special promotion selling the core Xbox 360 version for $100. The core package usually retails at around $300, so you can imagine the amount of people trying to get one, since there were only 1000 units available. The promotion started at 11am, and caused the site to go down for 15 minutes, a significant time for such a large site.
“We saw dramatically more traffic than what we anticipated,” Amazon spokesman Craig Berman said Friday.
The Xbox360 consoles sold out in an outstanding 29 seconds, which is not a surprise, considering the deal. In related news, Amazon shares fell 1.3 per cent on the stock market.

Less than 30 seconds? Wow! People … none of us on this site stood a snowballs chance in hell of getting one at that price. If you had to use the bathroom you missed this deal. Man that is crazy but so was the price so it is to be expected. But still … MAN!
