There has been a surge in the demand of Wii component cables, and of course Nintendo doesn’t have enough for everyone. So most Wii owners are stuck with 480i, instead of the better 480p mode. One way of getting 480p or playing the Wii on your HDTV is to make your own component cables. On TDFICQ, there is a comprehensive DIY guide detailing every step, but remember, this requires you to destroy the composite cable that comes with the Wii, and should something go wrong, you pretty much end up with nothing.

1Thanks but no thanks, I have no desire to destroy my Wii in any way. I’m fine with 480i for now.

2I wrote this article. Yes there is risk, but as long as you’re careful and don’t rush things there’s almost no risk. On top of that this method is a non destructive method for your original composite cable. If it doesn’t work. Just put the casing back on and your original composite cable will be just fine.
Just FYI
