No Castlevania For Wii
Several gamers out there would like to see specific franchises move to the Wii, mostly to see in what ways the games can incorporate the Wiimote in their gameplay. There are a ton of games out there that can use the Wiimote to their advantage, and Castlevania is one of them, thanks to the infamous whips the game is known for.
Konami producer Koji Igarashi recently stated in an interview with Nintendo Power magazine that he doesn’t see Castlevania coming to the Wii because of the “gimmicky” controls.
“For me, the Nintendo Wii controller doesn’t yet connect with the core gameplay of Castlevania. I definitely don’t want to make a game with gimmicky controls where you swing the controller like a whip…”
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like a Castlevania game is coming to the Wii anytime soon. Though the whip action in Castlevania would go well with the Wiimote, Igarashi thinks otherwise.

Another blow for the Wii … I wonder what the future looks like as far as 3rd party devs go. I guess it is a bit early to tell and you can’t judge by one company (and they may change their mind given more time with the Wii and if their competitors will enter this market segment.

I thought the rule was “what the gamers want, the gamers get?” Who care what the creator thinks, if we want castlevania on the Wii then make it for us. That so hard to understand!

Its not always that simple. If they can’t implement it correctly and it comes out less than idea for them more than likely it will not be a very good game for the masses. The developer’s heart and soul has to be committed to the platform it is developing for if the game is going to be any good at all. And in the case of the Wii the last thing it needs is another mediocre title.

I’d be very dissapointed if Castlevania doesn’t come out as a title for the Wii, that’s the main reason for me purchasing this unit. I grew up on Nintendo and I expect to have all if not most of the old school games and Castlevania will must likely be a deal breaker for me.

At least the Wii will be getting Super Castlevania VI for the virtual console Christmas Day. Hopefully enough people will shell out the 800 points ($8) for the game. Plus, Konami does not have to make the whip action of a Castlevania game work through wrist movements. They could just map it to the a button.

Maybe this dude is the reason my all time favorite videogame series has been having some very sucky releases(posts this from his wii) he reminds me of wormtounge from lord of the rings, we arent being told his true feeling just being punished by his intent, or is he really so thick, that he cant imagine CASTLEVANIA on the WII???
