Ever since the fake video of E3 2005, there has been no news of Killzone. Now, Dutch developer Guerilla Games has revealed some details to a Dutch news paper Volkrant, saying the game will cost more than the most expensive movie in the country, Black Book, which cost over $21 million. The real budged for Killzone wasn’t revealed, but Guerilla said there are over 120 people working on the project. The game will be translated into 20 different languages, which will improve sales by up to 40 percent (according to Guerilla). Downloadable content was also mentioned, where gamers will be able to purchase further content.

3Wow … they are spending over 20 mill on developing this? This must be THE Gears and Halo 3 killer that Sony is banking on. If this game fails it will be yet ANOTHER major blow for Sony and its PS3 brand. It will be extrememly interesting to see how well it is accepted … considering it ever gets released. I wonder if it is going to take another full year. In a way that would make some sense … it follows the Gears model of being the first 2nd gen next-gen game for its console … so I could see that happening.

4I had given up on Killzone, but if it manages to look a tiny bit like the E3 trailer, then I’m getting it. And a PS3

7It wasn’t CGI. But it was rendered real time at something like 5 fps then sped up.

9Here you go … as always you have to do some research before taking a stance. CGI, Pre-rendered = same thing … you are not showing REAL authentic gameplay and that is just out and out dishonest and 100% misleading.
“Critics in the media argued that the trailer shown at the E3 2005 trade show did not show actual gameplay footage, as its high level of visual detail would be impossible to render in real-time even by the PlayStation 3 hardware.
SCEA’s Vice President, Jack Tretton, was quoted as saying that the Killzone footage “is definitely real” and “is real gameplay”, but it was later claimed that Tretton was referring to Resistance: Fall of Man (formerly called I-8), not Killzone. Sony’s Chris Ivester later stated the video was done “to spec”.
Guerrilla developer Jan-Bart Van Beek hinted at the trailer being pre-rendered.[1] Further comments from Guerrilla Games to the effect that the trailer was based on a reasonable expectation of the PlayStation’s potential, suggest that the trailer was not real-time. More recently, the President of Blur Studio said in an interview with SpikeTV that he knew the CG firm in Scotland that made the video and worked on it for over 6 months.
President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios said in an interview with Play magazine in 2005 that,
“The way we put those videos together, everything was done to specification. Everything was done to PS3 spec. Virtually everything used in-game assets; some things were rendered”

10If it plays like shit it’s still shit.
btw why the hell is Sony trying to bank on shooters? That’s impossible to win going against xbox. They should be concentrating on RPG’s and Platformers. It’s like there losing there own target audience.
Yeah ur getting FFXIII but, mister Hironobu Sakaguchi is no longer making the FF series. Instead he partnered with xbox to create a new developer studio Mistwalker bringing Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey to the table.
Sony IMO is the gamecube of this generation.

11” This must be THE Gears and Halo 3 killer that Sony is banking on. ”
Once in a while a game comes out that just redefines and raises the standard for great gameplay. It looks like Killzone will be that game. When you discover that the development team includes 120 people- supported buy a budget that could end hunger in a 3rd world country- you know that something big is looming over the horizon? And with all the time, energy and manpower going into the production of this game I doubt that the aim here is to create another wanna-be Halo competitor. Nah. I think the aim is to set a new standard for games in that genre.. while erasing all memories of Halo from the minds of gamers everywhere! (diabolical laughter)

12Sounds like the same thing to me. Erase all memory … genocide … killing same thing. But I agree this game must be something special indeed. At least that is what we are being led to believe. But the end product … well that is what will speak for itself. So again I personally am withholding any further judgement of this game until it gets closer to release and they start showing some Authentic in game video. Beyond that I really have nothing more to say on this subject. Knock yourselves out.
