More Halo 3 Details

Bungie has revealed a TON of information on merely three screenshots for their upcoming game, Halo 3. While the game has not yet been dated yet, people just cannot wait for it. Bungie has posted three new screenshots on their website, and has explained each shot in great detail, from what is happening in the shot, to what weapons and items will be in each building or area on the map that is being explained in the screenshot. And to those who criticize the game’s graphics so early, Bungie has released this statement:
Mind you, all of the screens and level designs you see here are completely subject to change. The models, the spawns, the balance, the geometry, the very nature of time and space. It may not be like this when you get to play the game next year.

Wow, those screens were definitely done on a PC, such incredibly high resolution. I bet they were struggling with all that AA and AF too!
They’ve done the textures and effects very well, as with all Halo games of their time.

Halo 3 is going to be such a great fun game … and of course there is the added benefit that it will definitely topple that Gears game (if Gears hasn’t alreay been taken down by Lost Planet, BioShock or Mass Effect).
It really is something that MS now has two Juggernauts to cause Sony big headaches. Oh well this is the nature of the biz. I just wish they would confirm if you get to play as Master Chief the entire length of the campaign. The only way I would pass on this title is if they repeated the mistake they made with Halo 2 (Arbiter).

mistake? i thought the arbitar was cooler than the master chief, even the name sounds better. the only disappointment for me was that the dam flood were so hard this time because they were put lots of dark areas.

While the Arbiter may have been a cool character most Halo fans did not like being forced to play as him for Half the game. One level would have been fine … but for most true Halo fans the story is about saving the world (indeed the Universe) from the covenant and performing that task as Master Chief. Making the Arbiter into a somewhat heroic figure just doesn’t work for me and didn’t appear to go over well with most Halo Loyalists. The thing that really saved Halo 2 from the trash bin in most cases was it’s solid online multi-player as evidenced by the fact it stood atop the XBL charts for Two full years.

but aren’t the arbiter and his small followers supposed to help the humans defeat the other covenant and the flood? thats what i got from the story.

No. That is not how it started at all. However when the other creature made them work together they attempted to give that impression. The Civil war within the covenant does not mean they like or want to save the human race. Remember the Arbiter still holds “The Demon” responsible for his fallen stature. At any rate we’ll see how the story fleshes itself out. Hard to believe that their will be some ex-covenant members actually fighting to save the Earth but at this point who can really say.

its to save the universe from the flood, thats what i meant. and the arbiter would join forces not to save earth but to save the universe, maketh sense in my head.

Okay if that works for you then who am I too argue. I guess we’ll know for sure when the game comes out. But again I can tell you from being pretty active in the Halo community because of my UT mod that the majority of Haloeans were not pleased with having to play as the arbiter and are hoping they just get to play as MC … and just show cut scenes or something with the Arbiter helping us if that is the way it is to be interpreted. At this point everything else is purely speculation.
