Zelda Timeline Explained

November 29th, 2006 Posted in News

zelda1.jpgGameTrailers.com has created a video that explains the timeline of the Legend of Zelda series with great detail, and helps clear up some confusion about the story and order of events. There are two different timelines that Zelda has – both lines forming exactly after The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Please note that Nintendo didn’t create this video, or the idea. The creators of the series have said in the past that the timeline has been disputed over because of poor translation protocols. Zelda developer, Eiji Aonuma, has said that he will try his best to patch the series’ storyline as time goes on.

gametrailers.com have 6 episodes on zelda, you can find them on spikedhumor.com, search for zelda retrospective. its quite cool to watch the changes to the game and the timeleine theory sounds plausable.

Yeah, this was pretty cool, I saw it like 2-3 weeks ago… I especially like the idea about the split timeline in OoT.

Hmmm … this seemed to be overlooked so maybe people will read it here:

“Whatever you do NEVER EVER have any confidence in the reviews given by Digital Entertainment News. There is NO WAY IN H-E-L-L anyone can convince me they were NOT paid off. No way. I have checked all the reviews and no other site had such a HUGE discrepancy in their reviews of the two games than this site.

They gave Gears a 95% or 9.5/10 while giving Zelda only a meager 8.1. Can you believe that! They just single-handedly almost made the respective overall scores equal. This is an OUTRAGE and there is no way that was an impartial review. I will never patronize that site again. Even Game was within 5 points of both games (though I do question them giving TP an 85 which really affected the average) … wow. I hope someone in the gaming industry who has a blog or does editorials points this glaring bias out. It is truly unbelievable. So watch and see … I am almost positive it won’t stop until Gears is actually a bit ahead of TP on the game rankings … and I know Mark Rein is behind this …”

For the entire post check the old thread about more Gears games not just Three.

The timeline was great. I think they need to do another one this time including phantom hourglass and twilight princess. I think Link to the Past should be in Hyrule B and so should TP.

The timeline was NOT great. While most of it seems plausible they made a major error in the Oracle games.

They DEPEND on each other in a lot of ways, the opposite adventure is constantly referenced to (especially in a linked game) and getting the true ending requires completion of both for storyline reasons.

There is no way they happened in different Hyrules.
