Wii Online Gaming Date Revealed
December 3rd, 2006 Posted in Business
Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed on SpikeTV that online multiplayer is coming soon, starting with Pokemon Battle Revolution in Japan.
“The multiplayer is coming. During the Japanese launch, there is Pokémon Battle Revolution, and that’s really the first one. There will be titles that we’ll be announcing in first quarter 2007, that’ll be multiplayer-enabled. So during second quarter 2007, people will be able to have a multiplayer experience on Wii.”
Nintendo will be the last ones to have online gaming as a feature on their system, as both the PS3 and Xbox 360 already have online multiplayer capabilities.
Reggie also mentioned that Nintendo is developing more Wii channels. Possibly for both Wii and Nintendo DS demos.

This should have been working from teh beginning, you would think Nintendo learned a thing or two from the GameCube. Online play needs to be ready ASAP, and Nintendo deliberately stopped third party developers from using the service this year. That’s just stupid.

[...] Nintendo is the last but by no means the least company to jump on the online gaming bandwagon for the next generation consoles. Reggie also confirmed what people though possible already. The Wii channels will be expanded to allow users to download DS demos and maybe even Wii demos. Time will tell when though. Source: [DigitalBattle] [...]
