Not Enough Wiis For UK?

December 7th, 2006 Posted in Articles, Business, Online, Wii

wii ukCVG reports that retailers across the UK are expecting “major shortages” of Wii consoles for the rest of 2006. Apparently you won’t be able to get a Wii at launch unless you pre-ordered.

But according to Nintendo UK, that is simply not the case, since many retailers don’t offer pre-orders and will have consoles in stock on launch day. More consoles will be shipped during December.

“There are many hundreds of retailers across the UK who do not take pre-orders and as such will have stock available from launch. We are pulling out all the stops to replenish stock in the run up to Christmas with regular multiple deliveries to all retailers across the UK in the hope that we can supply Wii to everyone who wants one this Christmas.”

There is little doubt that there will be Wii shortages, both US and Japan suffered shortages, despite receiving more consoles than Europe. The Wii officially launches in the UK and rest of Europe tomorrow.
