npd logo.gifThe NPD Group finally released the first report on console sales this Holiday season. According to NDP, the sales in the US for the month of November topped $1,7 billion, with the top selling consoles:

  • Nintendo DS: 918,000
  • PlayStation 2: 664,000
  • Game Boy Advance: 661,000
  • Xbox 360: 511,000
  • Wii: 476,000
  • Sony PSP: 412,000
  • PlayStation 3: 197,000

A week after the Wii launched, Nintendo announced that 600,000 consoles were sold in North America, which appears to be true since NPD’s figures are US-only. The big news is that Sony only managed to ship 200,000 consoles, instead of the promised 400,000 units. Unsurprisingly, the software sales were led by the Xbox 360 title Gears of War,

  • Gears of War: 1,000,000
  • Final Fantasy XII: 896,000
  • The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess: 412,000
  • Guitar Hero II: 356,000

Other software titles in the top ten were Call of Duty 3 (Xbox 360), Need for Speed: Carbon (PS2), Madden NFL 2007 (PS2), and WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 (Xbox 360). Full report here.
