Xbox 360 Selling Well In Japan
December 8th, 2006 Posted in Business

For the first time the Xbox 360 is selling quite well in Japan. With the highly anticipated title Blue Dragon released, and a cheap new bundle, Japanese gamers finally have a good reason to get a 360. The new bundle includes the game Blue Dragon, a Blue Dragon faceplate, 5 mini figurines, and a calendar, for the unbelievable price of $259, or 29,800 Yen. The game has received great reviews in Japan, and Microsoft promises to bring it to the rest of the world as well.

??? £279? well for one thing $259 is about £130 directly converted and the other is that the Japanese models are basically the core system not premium so you’d be better comparing it to that so £184.99 at current prices(tesco online before anyone asks) ;o)

woopsie, made a mistake on the price (keep thinking about the 360 i want and how much it costs), sorry. but still, can’t the price just be the same everywhere.

dang… the japanese are digging the 360 now? I suppose Microsoft finally came out with a game they might like, I hate how they are trying to be like nintendo… I’m looking at you, viva la pinata!

Well there practically giving the thing away! It took them too long to finally start selling. So what their selling right now, what happens after Blue Dragon comes out. Nothing thats what.

Does it really matter in the scheme of things? Most analyst feel that even without the Japanese Market MS is poised to win the next gen battle … at least against the PS3. I don’t think any of them foresaw the popularity of the Wii.

“I don’t think any of them foresaw the popularity of the Wii.”
Very true Anuban. I remember wanting the Wii before we even knew of the motion sensoring controlls. At that time when the killzone video was shown around that same time most analysts predicted the Wii to be a flop and be in more distance behind PS3 and 360. Now these same idiots are praising the Wii and bashing the PS3. All of them are full of it and ride the bandwagon.

“Now these same idiots are praising the Wii and bashing the PS3.”
Spot on STD…
And give it 18 months when both sets of systems have bedded in and managed to sell through the majority of they’re hardcore fan base these same idiots will be back on the Sony=God bandwagon they’ve been on for the last 6-7 years when it starts to overtake again in sales.
As for “most analysts” predictions take them all with a pinch of salt, the majority of them wouldn’t know what a duel shock or Wave bird was if they were beaten over the head with one.
Microsoft will take more market share this generation, simply because they’re going for other markets now e.g. Brazil/India/Eastern Europe etc and there will also be a portion of the hardcore gaming community that wants to play “traditional-non waggle” games that Nintendo are now alienating and Sony are pushing out of they’re fold because of price that Xbox will pick up on next year when they price of the console starts to drop.
Let’s not neglect the fact that Microsoft are a 2 fold games company with a huge market base with the “games for Windows” flock as well as Xbox, with deals like Shadow Run coming out you’ve got to start looking at PC and Xbox as not being so much cross-platform as just one gaming platform and with that Microsoft are already in a dominant position in the market with which to bring more exclusives to they’re system from 3rd party publishers. We’re already seeing that with games that would have been cross platform games before now, Bio Shock and Mass Effect for example. In the end people buy a system for the games on it not for how you control it. You could make Red Steel playable by thought control and I’d still rather play Gears of War…

yes they are my feind..gears of war.
