Nintendo Sued Over Wiimote Trigger
Interlink Electronics, Inc. has recently filed a lawsuit against Nintendo regarding the Wiimote’s trigger. The company, which specializes in the design and manufacturing of interface devices, claims that the Wiimote’s Trigger violates Patent No. 6,850,221 (Trigger Operated Electronic Device), which the company obtained on February 1, 2005.
Quoting Interlinks statement,
“Nintendo has made, used, offered for sale and sold in the United States, and continues to make, use, offer for sale and sell in the United States one or more controllers which activities infringe, induce others to infringe, and/or contributorily infringe the ‘221 patent.”
The company seeks a jury trial and payment for “damages.”. But if Nintendo is being sued for the “trigger” on the Wiimote, why aren’t they sued for the N64 controller, which features a similar trigger, or “Trigger Operated Electronic Device”?

Omg this is pathetic.
They could sue a variety of different companies then, including microsoft.

Hmm why do Interlink own the copyright on a trigger? What a joke. I wonder what financial losses they are encountering that they want to claim, were they trying to make a controller for the Wii too? Funny how this isn’t posted in the news section of their website, I wonder why not…?

It’s like trying to sue someone for selling a wheel when you have patents, not to the wheel, but to the hole in the middle.

And I’m not trying to … if they are found guilty they have to pay plain and simple … my feelings about how much I like the product would never cloud my judgement.

But my patent of fire is infrindged upon by everyone! Even You Anuban!
