Spike TV Video Game Award Winners
December 9th, 2006 by Steve Reddish in Driving
You may have read earlier that on December 13th, the Video Game Awards would be shown on air, but they have already finished the taping of the show, which was done last night. These results were entirely viewer votes, except for critics choice, of course. Since many reporters were there, they have already told us who won. If you don’t want to know until December 13th, then stop reading from this point on. Winners after the jump

“Best Soundtrack: Guitar Hero II” .. They don’t know what a soundtrack is. Simply throwing pop songs into a game doesn’t make it the “soundtrack”.

It is good to see that Oblivion actually beat out Gears for GOTY … but I knew all those other wins would go to Gears which is cool … It does have the best graphics hands down. Dead Rising won and I predicted that so cool … also nice to see Alyx win Vixen of the Year … not just some stereotype with big boobs. All in all they actually did a decent job.

BTW these were my predictions:
My Predictions (pretty easy too see this year’s winners honestly)
GOTY: Gears … surprise
Best Graphics: OH wow .. Gears again … how shocking
Best Shooter: Could it be .. yep Gears for the triple play
Best Action Game: Though this should go to Dead Rising it will probably go to that whack piece of garbage Saints Row (how I hate games like that … but that is a personal thing)
Best Team Sports: Given that measly list it can only be NBA 2K7
Best Fighting Game: Should be DOA4 tbh but this is one area that could go any way at all.
I did pretty well … only missing GOTY (Which I am VERY happy to be wrong about!) and Best Fighting game … how MK won over DOA4 though is beyond me … actually if you’ve played the two there is just no way you would think that this was the case … it just doesn’t flow as smoothly … the animations aren’t nearly as good and the graphics don’t compare. The only reason it could have won is because there are so many playable characters but other than that no way it should have won.
Still I was 4 for 6 so I feel good about how I did … it let’s me know that going back to University (starting Jan 8th YAYYYY!!!) for gaming design simulation and programming and technical management is definitely the correct choice for me.
