A Wii Game Developed By One Man Is Avaialble In Retail

Ever wondered how easy it actually is to make a game for the Wii? A one man game developing company called Nissimo has developed and published a Wii game called Super Fruitfall. The game was available across the European launch for around £24.99 compared to full priced games retailing at £39.99. Developer Tony Williams who made the game says,
“This is the kind of deal that small companies don’t usually make. The large publishers don’t have time for the small guy, so working with System 3 (ed. the publisher) has been a vital step. Everyone I show the game to enjoys playing it, this will make it available to the mass market.

Fantastic news … just absolutely fantastic … get ready my fellow game devs and aspiring game designers … we are entering a brave new age … with UE3 tools, the XNA platform, and this there just is no end in sight. There has never been a better time to get into game development … man I am so glad I am going back to school … get on folks and you won’t regret it …
Man this is so cool … it really is great news to start off the day … that and the fact that the Steelers are back to winning again and the Colts got Destroyed.

thats good and all, but that just means many many more kiddy games since its the easiest thing to make. its nota good idea for people that want proper gaming, that really seems for the 360…or ps3. well nintendo did say they were going for a wider range, but now i don’t want one, im put off completly.

That’s cool though since all of us developers have to start somewhere and people know what market and what kind of games to expect from Wii developers this first year … again wait until a year passes like has happened for the 360 … then you’ll really be impressed. I am optismtic about the possibilities as someone who just wants in this industry in order to develop a commercial game and have that under my belt before I settle on a company that I founded with a team I worked with and do things my way.
Remember the 360 has the XNA platform to ease us new devs into working on creating games for the 360 … and many of the first games will be okay but it is what they actually represent I don’t think you are seeing the larger picture of what will happen down the road in say two to three years which is no time in the world of console gaming.

Me and another fellow actually talked about making games for the Wii some months ago. And we actually got started on a really cool party game, with endless of play time, and pretty easy to develop. Unfortunately, we still were only two of us, and the project just seemed a bit to big for only two guys. But had we just been 4-5 we could have been finished by now. What triggered us was also the development cost, which are really low.
BTW Monir, why wont you buy a Wii because it has kiddy games. Nobody forces you to buy those in particular. You can just buy the mature ones, like Red Steel, Excite truck, Zelda, Call Of Duty 3, Metroid Prime 3. There are lots of “serious” games for Wii

Kaiser Soze you said exactly what I was thinking. And that is commendable you were doing dev work … keep at it and just take your time, you are not on a schedule, and watch … you will get results and find your way into this industry. There are just not enough good gaming devs around these days to satisfy the hoardes of gamers on all the different platforms. This is why I am going back to school to bet my BS in Game and Simulation Programming.

You will if you truly want to and the passion stays burning inside of you. I can’t tell you how many times I was ready to walk away from haloUT because of all the madness associated with running such a large group of talented devs who had chips on their shoulders and conflicting egos and they were all over the world so I had to stay up sometimes 30 hours straight and get three hours sleep and get right back to managing, assisting in the coding of weapons and vehicles, and coordinating testing efforts and doing alot of the testing myself as the devs finished up things to spec and needed to see if there were bugs that needed to be ironed out immediately … talk about a labor of love … Man. It was an insane yet extrememly exciting and fufulling time in my life.

well i just can’t be bothered to deal with having to take so long to find decent games (like on gamecube), the ones you mentioned are alright i guess, it depends on time, maybe in teh future there would be some games to make me get the wii but atm i just want a 360 for halo, gears, CoD3.
