Sega To Develop Games Based On The “Alien” Franchise

alien.jpgThis Hollywood Reporter reports that software developer and ex-console producer Sega has garnered the rights to publish 20th Century Fox’s Alien movie franchise on all next-generation console platforms as well as the PC. Sources indicate that no less than two Alien titles, a first person shooter and a role playing game, are in development with the first due out in 2008. Sega is also attempting to woo some of the movie series’s actors, including star heroine Sigourney Weaver and everyone’s favorite good android Lance Henriksen, to provide their likenesses and voices for the new Alien games.

Interestingly enough however, due to the fact that a second AVP movie is scheduled for release during 2007’s holiday season, Sega was not provided with the rights to the 20th Century Fox movie blockbuster and PC game Alien Vs Predator, which the mega movie production studio is apparently retaining for themselves. The article goes on to report that a tie-in game for the sequel is a possibility.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
