Wii Virtual Console Hacked

December 11th, 2006 by Darren Stevens in Adventure, Hardware, Online, Simulation, Software, Wii

fzero hacked.jpgSome hackers have cracked (or some crackers have hacked?) a Wii Virtual console game and posted the torrent on the web. The SNES title F-Zero is first downloaded, then transfered to an SD card, and then to the Wii internal flash storage. It’s the NTSC version of the game, so it’ll only work in the US. You can find the torrent here (make sure you got the original game first, as piracy is bad, in case you didn’t know).

Didnt this come out like 2 weeks ago?? And dont you need action replay and a gamecube sd adapter to load it?? I may be wrong if the DRM issue has finally been resolved?? anyone??

  2. Ryan Says:

says, this is a hacked channel, not the action replay solution. the hackers apparently got rid of the drm. What I’m looking for is a solution to make .smc files into wii channels. I have no clue how the wii emulates software, either it has an emulator within each game, or an emulator for all games. I still suspect that they basically use roms for all of these, but add some encryption and that instruction manual. I want this because there are games I already own in cartridge format, and I don’t want to buy them again. I’d rather download the roms and do something like this (I want the final product to look legit too, none of that action replay crap).

That’s great news Ryan! I know this file was hanging around for a while… good to know someone with time on their hands was working for the common good. Can’t wait to see more backups of my original carts showing up more often!

1 word: these roms are available for a decade now on pc: WHY BOTHER?

  6. Nick Says:

Doesn’t work…followed instructions, shows Fzero as a channel on the SD card, but fail to copy over says cannot copy fzero to this wii.

  7. Oscar Wii Says:

I cannot find the download file in that site
It only comes this info shit…
Can someone please give me the direct link to the download?(A)

  8. Justin Says:

    1. You simply will not be able to play a .smc on your Wii. It’s impossible.

    2. This is a fluke. Yeah, all the steps go by great, but you can’t play it. If you wish to test it yourself, search one of the many torrent sites and download it and test it yourself.

People will figure this out eventually, but for now, nope.

Doom, in answer to your question. The reason why to bother is simple!

Lets take for instance kit cars. Yes building a replica kit car model of a Ferrari F40 may actually look fairly similar to the actual thing.

But at the end of the day its only a pail simulation of the real thing.
I think that just the chance to play the games with a joypad and on the big screen the way they was designed to be enjoyed is the big attraction.

    Thats just my opinion.
But hey if other people are happy enough to play them on their pc, each to their own :=)

  12. Seth Says:

  13. Brian Says:

Someone I know (hehe) has set up a very nice emulation system with many, many NES,SNES and N64 games on a HTPC (home theater PC), Connected directly to the TV and using original n64 controls (via USB adapter)…

with the exception of a few games, they run at full speed, and look smooth…

Would it be nice to play these roms on a Wii? of course it would… but for now there are a few very good options available for those who are willing to invest the time ;)
