Wii Gets First M-Rated Game

December 15th, 2006 Posted in News

far cry wii.jpgFar Cry Vengeance for the Wii has shipped to gaming shops and retailers across North America reports publishing company Ubisoft. This marks the very first game for the Wii that carries the M-rated designation and hopefully this will not be the last as the Wii could definitely benefit from showing the market that the Wii is not just a kid’s gaming toy. This new version of Far Cry has been developed as a quasi sequel to FCI Evolution and features an original storyline, new levels, and new weapons for people to massacre the cunning enemy A.I.

The game has been purportedly been designed with the Wiimote in mind to be used for actions such as jumping, shooting, throwing nades, as well as other more ferocious gameplay mechanics, and will also add multi-player capabilities for people who want to take their fragging skills online. While this game will make the best possible use of the gorgeous jungle environments the series is known for don’t expect it to look as visually impressive as the Xbox 360 version of the Far Cry franchise. Still, by using the unique features of the Wiimote it should prove to be a fun introduction into the M-rated games genre for the newest entry in the next-generation console race.

rofl anuban, i was expecting someone to say something like that. well lets hope this isn’t the first of just a few. if there’s a few more games with as much blood or good fps action like gears of war ill definetly get a wii. still would prefer 360 first though.

And it got a shitty 4.0 rating over at IGN as well.

  6. Anuban Says:

Ahhh who cares … all the first gen Wii games (with the exception of TP) are getting low marks … big deal … after the whole Gears thing I no longer trust ratings anyway. I’ll still be getting this game once I get my Wii.

  7. Quartecks Says:

The first is also the worst….

  8. Anuban Says:

So it looks bad … that’s why I have a 360. The point is even they admit that for the most part the mechanics themselves are fun and work pretty well in the majority of places. That is all I want from a Wii. Wii60 forever … the combo that satisfies both graphics and gameplay needs. :)

Zelda is rated M, at least in Australia.

Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Wii

  12. Zac Says:

Ah, must be because we use a different rating system here, not the ESRB.

  13. Anuban Says:

Yeah the M rating article refers to what the vast majority of the world gives the game … especially the larger markets: USA, Europe, Japan.
