The PS3 is third atm because there are hardly really good games for it that haven’t already been out on the 360 first and for all that extra money you are paying it simply doesn’t outperform the 360 at this point … also sales have been disappointing overall and they didn’t make nearly enough to even come close to their projected numbers. Maybe next year it will tie for second but really if you look at things objectively there is just no way it is anything but the 3rd best gaming system out of the three.

Yeah, but if you look at all of the previous winners (Sony having this title twice) they all started strong, it was apparent from the get go that they were winners. For sony to pick up ALL of the ground that they lost so far it would be like the GameCube picking up after it’s launch. Not going to happen dude.

Also the amount of new people who have never played a console are buying Wiis. My mum and dad who’ve never play video games were actually thinking about getting a Wii after I brought it over on Christmas day.

s a major reason why the wii officially kicks ass. But in case you’re still hesitant, here are some other things to think about. You may be thinking that people only like it because everyone else does: I can easily counter that.
According to websites such as IGN and Gamespot, 8 out of every 10 people have tried the Wii and declared its pure electronic perfection, to either a local, public, or global scale. Simply go to either google video or youtube and search Wii vs. ps3. Not only will you find a hilarious G4 commercial, but almost every video I’ve seen is in favor of the Wii and NOT the Ps3.
Secondly look at the price difference. With the money for a Ps3, you could buy 2 wii consoles! Unless you can shit money, I find it remarkable for one to even consider paying for one.
Thirdly, wii pwns n00bs because it is extremely compact, very easy to set up, and very easy to travel with. The Wii console itself weighs 7 pounds: the bulky ps3 weighs 11 pounds. Try travelling with this massive black anchor!

Therefore, because the wii is extremely fun and easy to use, it is extremely compact, and does not raise your apartments weight limit, the Wii is clearly the superior system.

By the way sony ps3 owners, if you have any counterevidence to what I noted above, I would love to squash you like a bug in the future

Ok you shouldn’t be hatin’ on the Wii for these reasons:
1. Wii kicked serious Ass here: look at the #s
Wii sales as of December 24th: 475,000 units sold
Ps3 sales as of December 24th: 195,000 units sold

Yeah I do agree with you Jim2K about Time Magazine as I have said before since the Person of the Year debacle. But there is no doubt the Wii is the system of the year overall and the Wii60 combo is one that just cannot be beat.

Have you read the Times article? It’s written by people that don’t understand a thing about games or the current console, they just see it as the “27 billion dollar market”, and try to sound intelligent. It’s bull…

While I agree that the Wii won this round, what the Times say (or TIME magazine) means nothing at all, usually these folks have no idea what they’re talking about in the first place.
