The smash hit game of 2005 was without a doubt God of War from the creative team at Sony’s Santa Monica development studio. Since that time gamers have been anxiously awaiting the day they could rip through their digital enemies as the ultra cool Kratos once again. Well according to Cory Barlog, the director of God of War II, the highly anticipated sequel to what many regard as the best action game ever on the PS2 platform, that day will be very soon. He informed the gaming press that the game is now in Beta and that the development team is readying a demo for Kratos crazed factions to sink their “chaos blades” into.
Some extremely lucky SCEA employees were given the chance over Christmas to take home copies of the beta and tear through the game to discover bugs so that these bugs could be addressed. The original God of War was hailed for being almost completely bug free; a feat rare for such a large scale epic game. There are talks of a demo being made available in late January or early February.
Well I know I cannot wait for that beta being perhaps the biggest Kratos fan around. I never thought a game could be better than the original, but after seeing the God of War II trailer I came to realize that thankfully I was dead wrong. This might be one of the most played PS2 games on the PS3 for quite a while.

1Without a doubt the greatest game ever made (for adults and teens who aren’t squemish) … and it just gets better. Looks like I’ll be getting one last Sony product afterall … damnit. Nice picture choice to go with the article btw.

2It’s a great game, I only played an hour or two at my friends place, totally impressed. Don’t have ahve a PS2 now, I don’t plan on getting one for GoW 2 either. Maybe on my PS3, when I get one.

3I played the 1st GoW and it was incredible. The gameplay was pure non-stop action. The story line literally sucked you into Kratos’ world. And the graphics were nothing short of amazing! definately Greek mythology at its best.
with titles like this for the PS2 and titles like MGS4 for the PS3, SONY CAN’T LOSE! (loud, diabolical laughter)

4Yeah for a PS2 game the graphics plain blew me away … this was the only reason I ever had a PS2 and probably I will end up breaking down and getting a PS3 when GoW III comes out. But then I will quickly resell it or trade it in once I get my fill of Kratos. I just know I am going to break down and get a used a PS2 for GoW II even though I swore I would never get another Sony product. It’s just that Kratos and his mythos is just too powerful to resist and the gameplay is the most addictive gameplay ever on a console … any console imho. Just look at how it started to spread to games like Marvel UA … there are so many parts where I can point to and say “they got that idea from GoW” … man I could go on and on about that game.

7Yeah but how many of you can HONESTLY say you beat all 10 challenges in one sitting as I did to get ALL the costumes and the powers they have? I must brag about that feat … it is my shining moment in gaming history … that and the 1900 hit points I got because I was wearing the Cow costume when I faced off against all the Kratos’ that Ares has you fight at the end of the game.

And what’s good gameplany to you- half naked, child-like cartoon figures casting spells n’ wetting their diapers? lemme guess.. you’re one of those DS Lite-RPG-bug-eyed character-loving ninnies, aren’t you? I bet you equate great gameplay with kiddie porn, majic spells, subtitles and a Ken doll don’t you, YA PERV?!!

14monir?
You could always rent a PS3 to play GoW3 on! By the time it comes out PS3’s and games will be much cheaper and more plentiful.
Which just proves you all blew it back when you settled for your Wii or X360 (future Dreamcast and GameCube)! PS3 will have the games and the best platform for playing them on no doubt by then.
Over this year alone a two to one exclusive release ratio over X360 for games released this year! Need links? Next year even more! Estimated that by 2010, game titles on PS3 worldwide will once again be at an overwhelming 3 to 1 ratio to any other full console.
Not the 10 to 1 of PS2 games, but hey dominating three generations in a row puts it in the same company as Apple’s iPod and the Sony’s own Walkman’s over 20yrs of dominance!

15God of War is awesome i’ve been playing it to purge my annoyance of having to wait for God of War 2. I cant wait for GOW 2 to be avilable on March 13, 2007, even though there is more than one release date for GOW 2. Like Feburary 28, 2007. The trailer for the game was amazing the graphics looked better than the first G.O.W.
So, if anyone doesn’t like G.O.W. or havent heard of it they dont know what they’re missing its the most amazing action/strategy genre game that I’ve ever played. Kratos Rules !!!!!!
