PS3 Demo Stands Freezing On Purpose?

According to a PR representative from who spoke with Destructoid they do. There have been many reports of freezing PlayStation 3 demo stands, and when Destructoid got a chance to talk to a Sony PR sales representative they didn’t give it up.
“So dude over there,” I said pointing to the busy clerk, “says he keeps the kiosk off because it keeps freezing up.”
“Nope. No it doesn’t.”
“Well, actually, yeah. It does. I’ve seen it happen myself.”
“No. It doesn’t. We did that on purpose,” he said.
“You make the entire console lock up on purpose because … why?”
“We do that so that people won’t play it all day long,” he explained. “Specifically during Motorstorm, we made it freeze up a lot.”
So there you have it, next time you are in a game retailing store and the console freezes up on you, then just remember that Sony did that on purpose as a clever scheme to stop people playing on it for hours.

oh my god sony needs to drop this crap, admit it, the console is freezing because its a P.O.S.
i mean the same thing happend with 360’s but atleast microsoft act completely oblivious to fact they were having problems.
you think instead of choosing ignorance, they’d just figure out what was wrong and fix it.

dude its sony they r on a roll of fucking shit up haha first they put spyware on cds so they can go in ur pc,then the lap top batteries blow up,now the ps3 didnt even live up to what they said on launch only giving 180k consoles,they lie about other companies.I dont like sony anymore.

Wow … the PS3 just can’t get a break … is there any wonder there is so much PS3 bashing in most of the industry and even non-industry (Time) rags. Get a clue Sony and honestly address these very annoying issues. This is why the PS3 is CURRENTLY in 3rd place in the next gen console race.

i was on joystiq.com and i was reading how ps3 werent even getting sold quick enough.for a week they had 7 on them with signs everywhere.its simplely amazing how theyre r gonna lose,the 360 was sold out for a year…it took forever to find one and i found 3 locationsw here i couldve bought one.Theres something wrong there.!

never did it to me lol I played motostorm at Target and its a demo people fail to think about that all demos start over I thought it froze up when I tried nba 07 but its just started the demo over . I thought of it as to tell me stop bein cheap and buy the real game just like my Ps2 demos. I agree though Sony does give stupid answers

Why would they freeze up? No one has reported their home PS3s freezing up, nor overheating. I think it’s true, it freezes on purpose. Or the consoles are an older version.
