Best Buy Selling Tons Of PS3s
December 31st, 2006 by Tobias Dahl in Articles, Business
Best Buy has tons of PS3s on December 31, with at least 25 per store, while some stores will have 60 units available. Customers can purchase the consoles Sunday at 9AM, where “tickets” will be handed out one hour prior to the store opening. One ticket per customer, one PS3 per customer. This might not be the biggest surprise, since Best Buy and other retailers have had PS3s in stock for weeks now.

Wow … I better go rush to get mine before they are all out again …
… soon enough though I will break down I cannot tell a lie … for whatever reason I must have all three next gen consoles by June. I feel compelled to give blu-ray with HDMI a go.

Between the gprahics card and a ps3, i’d say you get more for your money if you get a ps3.

I would have to agree with monir on that one. But it also depends on how much of a PC gamer you are. Still you have to keep in mind Sony’s promise of using Blu-ray for gaming technology as well as movies … and that is not going to happen with HD-DVD as it is strictly for movies only. I will say if it were me because I am a hardcore PC gamer who is looking forward to Vista and UT2K7 and who already has an HD-DVD player I would choose the 8900 GTX.

hd will fail for it’s not supported by the xbox360 standard package. Easy math

How is this special? Everyone has had PS3s in stock since early December. No one is interested in the console anymore…

Well the software devs are seeing how poorly the PS3 is doing and how well the Xbox 360 continues to do and so is it any wonder that many formerly exclusive PS3 titles are now going to hit the 360 market … while some companies may be backpeddling on releasing 360 games for the PS3 (like Bioshock which is not going to be on the PS3 afterall, at least not for a while).
So really as I keep saying Sony is going to have to do something drastic to keep the devs in their corner and to slow down the Wii and X360 juggernauts .. like cut the price or just be willing to wait until at least 5 good exclusive titles that show off the power of the cell cpu come along. I am not holding my breath for the latter to happen so I hope they wise up and at least do a $50-$75 price cut.
