Charge Your DS The Old Way
December 31st, 2006 by Matt Stone in News
Forget about charging your DS using a standard adapter and all that, there’s a good old way of doing it. Japanese GameTech has made a hand-crank powered DS charger. You simply turn the handle to charge the battery.
Not the best way to charge anything, but fun to show off to your friends. Consider this the most pointless accessory of 2006. Video after the jump.

I remember this! My friend bought it around the time the first DS released. It doesn’t work well at all.

How long do you crank for a decent or full charge?

is there any reason for it, like is it good exercise or monumental fun.

Not pointless if you’re going camping or something.

I think that something more like a pump, where you can charge the DS with your feet, would be less tiresome, and you could play while charging. With a hand-crank, your hands will be too tired to play after you have charged the DS(IF you can give it a decent charge).

Something wound up like a clock, that slowly unwinds and produces the right amount of energy the DS needs would be kool.

If I’m stuck in the middle of nowhere, I’d prefer to have my hand crack DS charge with me.
