Xbox 360 Version 2 Leaked Info
January 5th, 2007 Posted in News

Engadget claims to have a photo (the pic above) of Xbox 360 version 2, codenamed Zephyr (v1 was codenamed Xenon, if you remember). The new console will sport an HDMI port and the much anticipated 65nm version of the main CPU. In addition, it will have a 120 GB hard drive, either bundled or sold separately.

…but does it come with an HDDVD? Cool addition though, prices are rumoured to be the same as the current version.

I would not think it would come with HD DVD because they have alway said its an add on and not needed for playing games but who knows…

Well I guess I’ll be saving my money for a new 360 … I wonder if there will be an official trade in policy for those of us who bought launch consoles … I sure hope so.
And why would they need to include an HD-DVD? That would undermine the stand alone unit and raise prices big time for the 360 premium. I think it is best to still give consumers the option to add that on when they can afford it or want to do it. As long as they have HDMI now I will soon be able to listen to HD movies the way they were meant to be listened to … looks like no PS3 for me anytime in the near future. Guess to play GoW II I’ll end up buying a used PS2 afterall.

oh my no dissin on this ? I would be very pissed off if I was to buy add ons and a new 360 for new features . Everyone and there momma bitched at Sonys Ps2 when they did it now Microsoft is doin it worse but nobody seems to give them heat over B.S . I for one will have me a Ps3 there is no telling how much this will cost . Now the trade in would be the best choice because I would be pissed if that was not an option , that would be pretty cool of Microsoft

Why a second version? Why can’t they just make another one but with a different configuration? Typical Microsoft.

f*ck you microsoft just stick to one version or allow trade-in’s for us who payed 50 or more bux for the extended warranty

This won’t be out before Holiday 2007, as the 65nm CPUs won’t be produced before this summer.

Wow … MS makes a better gaming console … and quickly at that … too address the shortcomings people have been complaining about and all folks want to do is talk crap and whine … unbelievable. Oh well that is the nature of human beings I suspect. I for one can’t wait … it is the best news an Xboxer could get. So what if you have to buy a new one … being an early buyer of something is no guarantee that it won’t be better (and in this case thankfully they did improve it) … happens all the time … man you think people would understand that by now. Guess not though.

Being 65nm it should certainly cut down the cost a fair bit.
