E3’s Replacement: E For All
Mary Dolaher, former E3 organizer and current executive VP for IDG World Expo, has announced that there will be a new yearly event of gaming called “E for All.” The event is for both game companies and consumers, unlike E3 2007. Consumers who would like to attend E for All will have to spend $100 for full three-day access to all of the convention’s events.
For companies that produce and develop games, interactive toys, and all things related, our goal is that ‘E for All’ will foster promotional and relationship-building opportunities that only face-to-face contact can create.
The name E for All was chosen out of over 3,000 suggestions from GamePro.com. The convention, when originally announced, was called the “GamePro Expo,” but instead decided to create a public contest about changing the name of the event.
The first annual E for All will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, October 18-20, 2007.

This will never be as big as E3. Ive been to E3 and DAMN you should see all the money that the game companies spend just to show off to the Media. But I’m not saying I’m just going to one.

Sounds like it could be interesting but I doubt I will fly or drive down to LA just to go see stuff that companies are openly showing over the web or in mags. I have to wonder if companies will actually show new stuff or talk about secretive things if there is no major gaming press coverage and just primarily consumers. Of course there is one way I would be willing to go …

Although it will never hold the same interest as E3 (well at least it doesn’t seem like it will) – I will more than likely go (being as it is right there and all) I think I will save negative judgement until afterwards
