Interviewed by Japanese TV, Microsoft’s Bill Gates says that the Nintendo DS is “impressive”, adding that the strength of the Wii is impressive as well. He then goes to say that Microsoft sees Nintendo as the toughest competitor, while not mentioning Sony or the PS3 at all.

I’m not surprised MS realizing who’s the actual competition is. But Gates mentioning the DS could indicate a portable Xbox. What do you think?

Zune is going to be ready to play games in 2008 … so they are definitely already aware of who there competition is … anyway now that I have my Wii I have the best of both worlds (atm anyway). Gameplay and Graphics and content available for download … just like I always say Wii60 4EVER baby!!! And really why should ANYONE mention Sony at this point … they are just not doing well … plain and simple. But of course that may change but until I see a price change or some games hit the market that really are head and shoulders above anything that is on the 360 the situation won’t change. And at least people (other than the Emmy ideots) recognize where the true innovation lies … with Nintendo. Once again they are changing the gaming paradigm. I just love it.

Hopefully Zune will offer games that use the WiFi feature, so that you can paly against people. Like the DS. But with the DS you only need one game to play with a friend, and cosideting how greedy MS is, there’s no way they’re gonna have that sort of stuff.

Yeah true. I love how you can do that with the DS.

Who knows … maybe MS will really analyze how their competition is attacking this market and make some adjustments. Again it is just speculation and we’ll have to see how it goes. I don’t think most people even thought that MS would have an external HD-DVD player at a decent price and plus they threw in King Kong with the first ones.

We’ll, they’re still charging to play games online with the 360, and don’t forget all the ripp-off crap that’s going on on the Marketplace. I know you think (and hope) that MS will realize it, but don’t frget, it IS MS, they might even charge you to play multiplayer games on the Zune, completely opposeite of what the DS does.

They have to charge something to play games online and really it is not that much … but to maintain such a smooth service (and it is 90% of the time) costs money it is that simple (and I don’t even play games online and yet just in case I keep a Gold membership) and the great majority of us have accepted this and don’t mind at all. And I just plain disagree that the XBLM is a rip-off at all. Sure there are some things on it I wouldn’t pay to download but there is enough choice and variety for everyone so people can decide for themselves if a download is worth paying for or not. But again this is just my opinion on the matter … I hear what you are saying though and that’s cool … you are entitled to feel just as you do. Me … well I am just going to sit back, enjoy what I have (360, HD-DVD, HD movies on demand, etc.) and wait and see what they do with this.
