Worst Game Endings Ever

With all the money being spent on graphics and other aspects of a game, one wonders just how much the writers get paid to pen the storylines. CVG takes a look at some of the worst game endings ever, with the dubious honors going to some of the best games ever released, including Halo 2 and Perfect Dark (N64). Heres a bit off their comment on Metal Gear Solid 2:
So Raiden got naked and then it was all downhill from there; a plot that requires four science degrees and a Clockwork Orange-style eye device to figure out, Doctor Octopus’ Kojima cousin and a cheesy “love the world” message. At least there were no penguins in this one.
Which games do you think have the worst endings ever?

I didn’t care for the way Halo 2 ended either but it was supposed to be a cliffhanger I guess.
- Pariah
- Area 51
- FarCry PC and FarCry Xbox 360
- HL2
- Sin EP1
- The Suffering 1 & 2
Thre are of course other games I played but couldn’t even get through the ending they were so bad to me or I just got bored before I could finish.

The Mortal Kombat Armageddon endings sucked so much ass! Here is the last MK game on the current-gen systems and the be all to end all of MKs. They were saying some of the characters were going to die off for the next gen consoles. What do we get, the character we beat Blaze with doing poses for the camera while Raiden is talking about what they did after the tournament. Huge let down.

Halo 2 was very disappointing, you could clearly see how MS pushed the game for a holiday release, the story was utter crap and the game was far too short.
I hope the same thing doesn’t happen to Halo 3.

While I didn’t like the ending and felt that the last chapter was kind of weak I still can’t agree with you Jim when you say the entire story was utter crap. It could have much better to be sure … especially if you could just see the whole story through the eyes of the MC like Halo 1 … but I felt it was pretty compelling and I did like 75% of the story. My only strong gripe was having to play as the Arbiter for half the game. That took a lot away from the overall game for me.

Jurassic Park for the snes. That ending sucked. You just saw an overview of the island map, which had been available all the time. The new thing was that the map rotated, symbolising you leaving in a helicopter
Settlers III. Needless to say. All cutscenes in that game sucked

Sounds like nobody here even knows about the alternative ending in MGS2. That’s what always keeps you in suspense with Kojima’s games! What will you discover next or if you go through that door, is it the end or the beginning. He makes you question your own sanity sometimes. It’s why he is regarded as one of the greatest story tellers. That and the fact they’re really NOT meant for the kiddies or those that can’t think for themselves.
The alternative ending in MGS2 (if you had a brain), you could see the genius of Kojima’s almost exact story correlation to what was going on in this country during 911 and he wrote it before it happened. The MGS serries is for thinkers and if you really know how to pay attention, they’re always related to current or future events in the real world. If MGS2 really had a bad ending, then they wouldn’t have made a MGS3, or MGS4 and the name Solid Snake would be just another name. And no other console fan would be begging Kojima to do develop a game for their console!!!
Easy to knock success when it’s not your own!
As far as games with bad ending go, if you can get to the ending, then it’s not bad. Maybe not good or great, but you had to find something interesting or you’d quit before you finished it. Now that’s a bad ending and the ones you forget!

I agree with that on MGS2, also remember the ending on the tanker, breathtaking, it left we bvaffled, though Raiden did kinda suck though. Black has a crappy ending, let alone the real action cut scenes, but i had to play it because i was in norway with no ther games.
