Zune To Have Games By 2008
January 9th, 2007 by George Lester-Pearson in Gear
Microsoft has always shown little support of handheld gaming and have previously criticized Sony for moving into the market. Xbox VP Peter Moore has now announced that their media-player and iPod rival Zune will be getting games by 2008. The complexity of the games are yet to be unveiled, but it is unlikely they are going head to head with other portable gaming consoles, instead just adding some extra value to the Zune, just like Apple did with the iPod games earlier this year.

Good one Alex, there are too many hardcore Sony fanboys who just refuse to face the truth

The Zune may be off to a slow start but let is all remember who is developing and pushing it. MS is not one to take lightly as shown by Windows, Windows Apps, and the Xbox 360 … I know at some point I will probably get a Zune since I know I will never get any kind of iPod or iPhone.

The only thing the Zune has the iPod doesn’t is WiFi. The Zune is bigger, chunkier, only 30 GB, and the abttery life is far worse than the iPod counterpart. The Zune rival to iTunes suck big time too (so I read in various reviews).

I’m not that much into music tbh so that doesn’t faze me at all … and by the time the gaming stuff comes out I am sure MS will increase the size of the HD. I don’t own any MP3 player … not interested. But when I get a Zune we’ll see if that changes. The WiFi stuff is interesting although I am sure that at some point in the near future Apple will add that to one of their “i” products.

Yes, when Apple ads WiFi to the iPod, it’s godbye Zune, nice try. But I hope MS improves the Zune, a smaller version with a bigger hard drive and better battery life. But I wouldn’t count on it, it took Apple years before they made the iPod into what it is today, so it’s not gonna happen overnight for the Zune.

Actually the wifi thing is a bit of scam. You only give or get music for three days. Not to mention it’s harder to get music for a Zune.

Never underestimate MS when they decide they want into a market. They have far more cash than Apple … so anything is possible with MS. But of course I will adopt the wait and see attitude for this product … but in two years I bet it will be doing pretty well .. still I hate to speculate on the future … what we do know is for now Apple does indeed continue to dominate this space and now they are set to tread into the phone area … we shall see how that goes with their very pricey product.
