Capcom announced that the zombie-slaying Dead Rising has reached the one million mark in worldwide sales. It was released in August in North America and in the following month for Europe and Japan. Capcom issued a statement that said:

“The success of Dead Rising and its million sales can be attributed in part to Capcom’s early embracing of next-generation development with an emphasis on high quality that has become a Capcom trademark, along with internal reforms to facilitate Capcom’s success in the global market. In addition, Capcom’s use of an integrated development environment is one of the many methods being employed to improve efficiency and help take advantage of the cutting-edge functionality in next-generation systems.

Another Capcom game, Lost Planet, might joined the “1 million games sold” club, as it has shown significant interest from Xbox 360 owners. The game will be released this Thursday in North America and Europe.

Dead Rising was a decent game, but it was more the hype that sold the million copies that the actual quality of the game.

Capcom is doing the same with Lost Planet, which will most certanly sell a million, but nothing suggests that it would be a better game than Dead Rising.

  2. dominant Says:

yeah i wasn’t that impressed with dead rising, its an ok game, i got somewhat bored after awhile and the whole save system kind of sucked, it was annoying to have to keep restarting…

  3. Anuban Says:

Well that is what I was saying on another thread but still there is no better pure Zombie fest game around and it was pretty impressive the first few times you go through the malls. But I expect DR2 to be a much better game and I think that Lost Planet will turn out to be pretty good if it isn’t too difficult. It looks better than DR and it certainly plays better imho … and that is just from playing the SP demo that was released a while ago.

  4. Jim2k Says:

Like I mentioned earlier, I was disappointed by the demo. There’s more to game than pretty explosions, shich weren’t that pretty by the way. But I’ve ordered a copy, and I won’t judge it before I’ve played it.

  5. Anuban Says:

At least you did order a copy … so did I and it is the one that has the action figure. I am looking forward to giving it a try.

  6. ZaVaZ Says:

They need to hire George A. Romero and make DR2. With the DR staff and Romero. Dead Rising 2 will make for a better and Awesome gameplay. Just my thoughts

  7. Anuban Says:

That could be a nice combo but I can’t imagine that would happen afte the way Land of the Dead turned out they may not want to trust his judgement.

  8. The Wickerman Says:

i loved it,the only problem would be i would aim the gun and iw ould be looking somewhere else but not at the person i shouldve been aiming at.that was annoying plus how slow the gun moved to the target

  9. tidles Says:

I respect any game that allows me to bust a painting pver a badies head, leaving it wearing the frame, place a driving cone on its head then throw custard pies in their faces, while smashing their heads in with a guitar, while wearing a dress… it almost mirrors my real life! :D

  10. Anuban Says:

Yeah there are some really great things that DR does that just can’t be beat … those are some of them. I really do like bashing the Zombies brains in with a Guitar and of couse the baseball bat is one of my favorite weapons. I hear the small chainsaws are great but I always forget to pick them up after I kill the Clown and I never did grab the Ceremonial Sword and I hear that is an awesome weapon as well.

What are some of your favorite weapons folks who like this game … I am curious to know plus I will accept any hints on how to go about getting them and where some are located. I admit there are quite a few things I haven’t used to kill the Zombies … I do love the katana. All this talk is making me want to start playing this game again and finally try to get to one of the endings or at least kill enough Zombies to get the Megaman suit and the real mega blaster … did anyone get those btw?

Dead riseing was a sik game i mean the whole idea of putting frank in a mall is amazeing some of my favorite wepon are the shower head, sword, and the machine gun on the jeep, i could make a few suggestions on how to improve the game like makeing a wide veriaty of differant zombies because the cops all look the same and so do the zombies the ai kinda sucks too but over all im looking forward to buying the sequal.
