Midway Ships 1.8m Happy Feet

happyfeet.jpgWhile major publishers sold millions of games during this holiday season, never underestimate the marketing value of Hollywood movies, especially if they’re cute ones like Happy Feet. Despite the fact that the game sucked, Happy Feet managed to ship a stunning 1.8 million copies during the holiday season, rivaling blockbusters like Gears of War. That’s nothing compared to the actual movie, which grossed 326 million at the box office. Go figure.

Of the 1.8 million shipped, they probably sold 1.5 million. Amazing. When EA sees this they’ll start making kiddie games like no other.

  2. Josh Says:

A sucky game attached to a sucky film that was sneakily marketed as a tapdancing penguin movie.

  3. Evander Says:

I will never underestimate EA in their ability to make retarded and pointless games that are popular ever again.

  4. Doom Says:

It’s just a kiddy game. They sell good, there is a BIG kid market, just take a look at the DS succes man…

Oh wait, Midway did that game? Hmm..

Yeah I’m surprised at how popular videogames are with kids younger than 12, but I do see a lot of obese ones.
And if they aren’t obese they at least always have some sort of handheld 4 inches from their noses.

Although the DS is mostly for kids it has also sold well with adults as well, which I think was part of their selling focus, just like the Wii is.
