It’s somewhat semi-official; Crysis is coming to the Xbox 360. At CES, a Crytek developer spoke to 1UP, where he revealed that they are indeed making an Xbox 360 version, but since the Xbox 360 can’t do a lot of the things that a PC is capable of (like Direct X 10), the gameplay would be entirely different. The key story and setting will still remain the same. He admitted that the Xbox 360 version wouldn’t look as good as the PC counterpart, which isn’t surprising.
[Thanks, Emil]

2With EA as publisher, expect this to come out on the PSP and DS as well…
The PC version is coming in Q3 2007, so don’t expect the 360 version to be released i 2008.

3This whole thing sounds similar to what was happening with MGS4

4Yeah they’re doing an extra special version for X360! It will be Nexgen graphics with authentic looking Stickmen as your character and music interspersed with the BSOD’s!
When you finally beat the game with the ghost DVD tray poping out on it’s own, while you’re frying an egg on the Power Supply, it flashes a picture of a Palm Tree with Error 71 interlaced with “CRYSIS”, “CRYSIS”, “FOR GODS SAKE YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT A PS3″!

5Ah it’s cool that the xbox players get a chance to play a dumbed down version of crysis as well. The more the merrier:)

6With EA involved I knew this was coming … but it will be interesting to see the diffences in the final versions of each. Of course this will only add fuel to the PC vs Console wars and when it finally comes out on the PS3 even more wars of words will start up. Thanks EA for making gamers hate other gamers over unimportant things like which platform looks best. This is one title that due largely to the DX10 hooks should have just stayed on the PC. But then I guess this is only the beginning … expect to see a version of Alan Wake and other “DX10″ games available on the Next gen consoles. Especially when more devs get the hang of developing on the Cell processor.

8I hope another team ends up developing it, I want Crytek to focus on the PC version so it has the best quality possible.
But also as I said before, this whole thing really sounds like the whole thing about MGS4 coming to X360, which so far isn’t going to happen. This is from a semi-official source, so it may not be accurate at all.

9Nah since old xbox was farcy’ed as well you can probably count on it. I got a feeling that version will come to ps3 as well, knowing EA and it’s multiplatforming. Which isnt neccecarily a bad thing. Where it not for countless bad/bland ports:P

10Yeah, Ubisoft developed Far Cry for the XBox, which was also an entirely different game. The only thing Crytek had to do with it was the CryEngine. Maybe EA is trying to do the same thing.
