A radio station in Sacramento California held a contest dubbed “Hold your Wee for a Wii,” in which contestants were given water to drink and had to hold their bladder to see who could do it the longest. A preliminary autopsy reports that a woman died of water intoxication a few hours after the contest had ended.

2Some people are so dumb they deserve to die. This might not be one of those times though, it seems innocent enough.

4The media is overreacting in this case. It’s so rare that people die from drinking too much water, she probably had a problem before she entered the competition. Either way, it’s sad indeeed, but I doubt Nintendo or the radio station is losing sleep over this.

7You’re both right, and your both wrong, chances are that someone will try to sue station, but they wouldn’t win.

8i think the station will orbably get sued. they were telling people to do something that resulted in one person dying, who knows if anyone else died as a result…or if she even died from it though.

10This whole isn’t remotely connected to the Wii itself! People do stupid things all the time. It is not the smartest publicity stunt and most likely this will result in a lawsuit. Whether win or not remains to be seen. But if a woman can make a mint off McDonalds because of spilling hot coffee on herself, then some 3rd cousin of the woman will be driving around in a custom Ferrari soon!

11Yeah, it’s just a game until someone is killed, then it’s a sport.

13If she was someone who ate very little salt she only would of had to drink about half a gallon of water to die from water intoxication. It can occur in as little as a few hours.
Here is a piece from another article:
http://www.taipeitimes.com/News/world/archives/2007/01/15/2003344902
“Initially, contestants were handed 225ml (8 oz or 1 cup) bottles of water to drink every 15 minutes.
“They were small little half-pint bottles, so we thought it was going to be easy,” said fellow contestant James Ybarra of Woodland, California. “They told us if you don’t feel like you can do this, don’t put your health at risk.”
Ybarra said he quit after drinking five bottles.
“My bladder couldn’t handle it anymore,” he added.
After he quit, he said, the remaining contestants, including Strange, were given even bigger bottles to drink.
“I was talking to her and she was a nice lady,” Ybarra said. “She was telling me about her family and her three kids and how she was doing it for kids.” ”
Jennifer Strange is the woman who died.

14Shaka I’ll give you my PS3 to get your fanboy rocks off over all you have to do is drink water until you die.
Fair?
I’d be willing to part with the PS3 to never have to read any more of your incoherent babble on here.
Someone stupid enough to drink themselves to death makes me worry for the future of the human race, but that thought that you might some day reproduce scares the shit out of me!

17thats a very sad story , its scary to think you can die from drinkin to much water when its suppose to be the most cleansing sh*t to drink . I think I almost croaked trying to clean my system out ! but I started readin and bam thats where I found out about dieing from water. I dont think its none of Nintendo’s fault. I think its the stations partly and humor error since most people dont know you can get water poisoning

20I cant believe she didnt know water could kill her.It happens in hazzing on a yearly bases. She wasn’t forced by law to drink the water so how are you going to sue. This makes america look bad and shows that we are the stereotypical sue for anything type of people. The woman died, sueing wont bring her back.Thats just being either greedy or a revengful bastage. If people were educated in common sense at school the world would be a better place.
