Guitar Hero III Made By Neversoft

January 17th, 2007 Posted in News

Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero II, two of the biggest games of the last generation, will not be developed by Harmonix anymore. Instead, Neversoft, best known as the creators of the Tony Hawk series, has picked up the game, as you can see by the picture above taken from their website indictating that they are hiring for Guitar Hero. While rumors have been circulating that Guitar Hero III would be titled Guitar Hero “80’s“, Neversoft did not have any comment on it. No word on a release date or what console(s) will be used for Guitar Hero III, but I’m sure it will be one of the best selling games of the year no matter what year it comes out.

  3. cody Says:

omg 80s. 80s music sucks so much. they need good stuff from the 21st centry. slipknot, system of a donw korn my chemical romance coheed and cambria ect.

  4. Brian Says:

DUDE I LOVE THE 80′S MUSIC!!!!! THERE WAS NO BETTER A TIME FOR SUCH GREAT TUNES… A CLASSIC ROCK EDITION WOULD BE GOOD BUT SORRY TO ALL WHO THINK THAT THE STONES AND THE GRATEFUL DEAD AND TOM PETTY ARE GREAT BANDS … THEY ALL SUCK, BOTTOM LINE. THEY WERE TERRIBLE AND I AM AFRAID THAT IF SOMEONE PUTS THE GRATEFUL DEAD ON A GAME THEN IT WILL COME OUT OF THE BOX HIGH ON ACID AND STINKIN LIKE PETROULI OIL!

  5. Javier Says:

    Pleeeeeease!

  6. CJizzle Says:

They need to continue with the music that they have been going with…Ozzy Osbourne-”Crazy Train”, Motley Crue-”Live Wire”-”Wild Side”-”Kick Start My Heart”…Songs like these would make the game great….they could probably throw in some more modern things like Godsmack, Bullet For My Valentine, etc…just keep it original.

  7. Evander Says:

There are many great bands from the 80’s, Metallica started in the 80’s, there is also Def Leppard and Pink Floyd. But I agree they should throw in some even older classics, including and especially Hendrix. I’d love to see the game have a really hard mode where you try to get the guitar talking.

  8. Tim Says:

Hey, you have to remember that the success in what they are doing is based on market research. And quite frankly, making an 80s version (or even a 70s version for that matter) would appeal heavily to the parents of the kids currently playing the game – yes, the infamous BABY BOOMERS! They generate a whole game or add on pack of those kinds fo songs and they may have a franchise that last well into the 2010s and even the 2020s. That is assuming the baby boomers can still pick up a guitar game controller then without a major arthritis attack.

I would love to see a “Country Hero” game developed. Or even hit every genre of music that use the guitar. I agree with some of you about the modern songs. I think some contemporary music especially more Incubus, Chilli Peppers, and add in some Metallica!!!!!

  10. Brian Says:

I think a country version sounds great… there are so mane killer guitarists in country music today i think it would make a great addition to the series! i just wish they would hurry and get it out for ps3 i hate havin to hook the 2 back up just to play gh

  11. Tim Says:

I can’t believe that someone hasn’t come up with a way to use the same game but have it access a memory card (or something tyat would go in that slot) to vary the music that can be played. It appears that the concert imagery and moves are fairly generic, so they could be used with a variety of music. I guess they’d just have to find a way to put a country hat on that frank zappa lookalike they have in there! LOL

  12. Randy Says:

I’m 22 and Everyone I know who likes real metal worships 70s and 80s music. And it obviously is working since it’s selling like crazy. using 60s 70s and 80s songs has worked. And besides how much fun would it be to play modern metal? That music is so stupid simple it would bore the hell out you. You really gotta use bands that play at a professional level, not bands that play at a novice level. I mean I remember being able to play crap like korn and slipknot when I had like 3 months experience playing the guitar when I was 16. I’m not knocking the drums though. It seems every band that has a child like guitarist like Tool or 311 usually has incredible drummers, it’s stupid. But hey, if you think you would have fun pressing one note every few seconds, more power to you.

  13. curt Says:

i loved guitar hero 1 and 2 but i really think u shud put some three days grace on the 3rd guitar hero as well as juke box hero made famous by foreigner you definatly need and this game shud come out on ps2

  14. danny Says:

They need house of the holy (led zepp), not fuckin slipknot……. cody you are a dusch bag. Another ovbious idea would to put some hendrix in there as well. white stripes. oyster cult. black sabbeth. the clash. david bowie. dead kennedys. ramones. more dick dale. clapton. iron maiden. janes addiction. lou reed. johnny thunders. morrissey. pink floyd. queen. rod stuart.thin lizzy. zz top.

  15. Masanian Says:

No, there will still be a GH III comming this fall.

  16. riley Says:

i want to see some PANTEAR, KORN, METALLICA, AC/DC, FAITH NO MORE, SOUNDGARDEN, PINK FLOYD, IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, TOOL, SLIPKNOT. mix of old and modern!!!

  17. riley Says:

oh crap i mean PANTERA!!! MAN IM A IDIOT!!!

  18. phoenix Says:

80’s music is going to be killer for the game. That was when the rebirth of metal took place, hair bands, new wave, so many genres come from the 80’s. There is some new music today that is worth playing, but not much, it comes from the same cookie cutter. Slipknot, give me a break please, look like garbage men with masks on. Korn…meh, they sound like metal wannabes. You want modern music that is worth anything in it, lets say Nine Inch Nails and bands like that, not bands that can’t hold a candle to the ones that came before them.

  19. jake Says:

nine inch nails suck pheonix. korn and slipknot are way better. but i agree that bands like korn and slipknot wouldn’t be fun in guitar hero games.

  20. Jeff Dog C Says:

I would LOVE to see Country Hero! Or at least some country tracks… There are a few country songs that would be very cool to play:

    Brad Paisly – Online
    Brad Paisly – Mr. Policeman
Keith Urban – Somebody like you
Garth Brooks – Friends in Low Places
Garth Brooks – Standing outside the Fire
Charlie Daniels Band – Legend of Wooly Swamp
Charlie Daniels Band – Stroker Ace
David Lee Murphy – Dust on the Bottle
    Montgomery Gentry – My Town
Warrant – Cherry Pie (i know not country, but i like it)
Big and Rich – Love train

Thats enought to get you started…

  21. does it really matter Says:

for all you guys saying stuff about slpiknot and korn, screw you! man those bands are freaking great and it would be awesome for them to be on guitar hero games. for all you guys who like them ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!! guitar hero is a great game and i hope they have many more to come.

  22. barron Says:

my bro says it was made by slash but his real name is frank is this true

  23. barron Says:

ahhhhhhhhhhh does any one check this im bord

  24. me Says:

One song that i thought would come out on one of the guitar hero discs would be “Bad To The Bone”. That is an awesome song that uses the guitar a lot and people would have a lot of fun playing that i think. I just thought that would come out on one of em.

  25. me Says:

By the way barron, Slash’s real name is Saul Hudson.

  26. catman1978 Says:

I would also love to see a Country Hero.. There are just as many country music fans if not more than the new metal age.. But it’s probably a close race. There would be a huge sale in this market I believe but until someone young starts picking these songs, they will not reach the new young aged people of today. My son got GH3 for christmas and he hardly knows any of these older songs. Come on engineers GET WITH TODAYS GENERATION!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. meditry Says:

I think a country hero game would kick butt, I would buy it, especially if you could play songs like Online, maybe we should see if we can get enough people together to actually see if we can show that there would be just as much profit, if not more on a country game of this sort.

  28. thisisme Says:

I would love to have a country hero game. another brad paisley song that is good with guitar is ticks.

  29. Ewoksrock Says:

I’m not really sure how much the video games and country music demographics overlap. Maybe I’m just happy they haven’t made a country hero game because I can’t stand it already listening to kids playing guitar hero every time I walk into my local gamestop. It’d be one thing if they were good at it, but to hear a decent song interrupted every five seconds by screwed up chords and notes because they don’t play well just annoys the heck out of me. hearing country songs played badly (redundant, I know) would drive me insane.

  30. laisudfij Says:

i think a country guitar hero is AWESOME if they wind up doing it i think that they should put all taylor swift songs on there but if they could only put one on i would want it to be tim mcgraw, our song, im only me when im with you, or invisible. those are all AWESOME songs!

  31. aardjc Says:

I think the idea of a country guitar hero would be cool but looking at some of the songs suggested I wonder if ya’ll truly know about country music. Don’t get me wrong brad paisley is an awesome guitarist. on a skill level he is equal to most of the rockers out there but if you want challenging you need to get into chet atkins. ricky skaggs and other blue grass/ country artist..I mean think about dueling banjo’s on Guitar Hero even my friend who is skilled as all hell at the game says he might have some trouble with that song. anyway think about older country musicians when you think about guitar hero
