Microsoft Increases XBLA Size Limit
January 19th, 2007 by Matt Stone in Business, Gear
According to 1UP, Microsoft has increased the file size for Xbox Live Arcade games from 50 MB to 250 MB, and with MS’ approval, the size can go all the way up to 450 MB. The original 50 MB limit was meant to make it possible for users to save Live Arcade titles on a memory unit, if they didn’t have the hard drive. With the pressure from Sony’s PS3, which has a 500 MB limit on downloadable games, it seems very reasonable that Microsoft would raise the limit.

The official word FYI:
A Microsoft spokesman said:
“Aside from the exception we granted for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, we have not announced any plans to alter the file size standard for Xbox Live Arcade games. However, adjusting the size limit is certainly an option in the future, and as always, we are listening to feedback both from gamers and developers on what will provide the best user experience.”
