Hardcore gamers are a tiny percentage of the world’s population. Even the most perfect ‘games’ machine ever would have trouble outselling PS2 due to the fact that it appealed to everyone.

If you are a gamer then PS3 is going to give you wood, but if you are an average guy or girl who plays the odd game when you come back from the pub then a £425 investment is a huge amount of money.

I think to become truly successful PS3 needs to grab gamers for the first six months or so then at least half in price to attract non gamers. Otherwise sales will totally dry up like the ill fated PSP.

Now RapidMind Development have released a port and demo for the “Cell BE” making game development a very simple task on PS3! RapidMind will be included in Yellow Dog Linux as well!!! This is major news and cause cross platform gaming to come flocking to the PS3.

Ten Thousand chichens individually coded and compiled in demo in just a few clicks on PS3. RapidMind is the Premeir Universal C++ Development Platform (doesn’t require any Cell BE knowledge) in the world. Combined with Octopiler from IBM and some other tools like Maya, etc., Expect PS3 to once again be the choice to program games for!

PS3 launched months ago in US/Jap and seeing that there are still consoles on shelves in both countries they are hardly having to fight high demand there.

If Sony can’t manage to get over 330,000 into the hands of EU fanboys in the first weekend then they really should consider giving up.

I fully believe Sony will overtake microsoft really fast in Japan, the 360 just hasn’t been selling there at all. Eu/US is another story.

True test is how it keeps selling. Look at PSP, thrashed DS with first weekend / month sales and is now getting shat all over.

Let’s not forget GameCube was the fastest selling home console last generation and overall the worst selling.

Vehicles are just plain incredible. The tanks are killer. The FREAKIN FLAME TORCH is way underated. It’s a great weapon better than any chainsaw. Like a giant weenie roast you can almost smell the stench of burned flesh. The special effects are awesome. Weapons are all out of this world fun. Online is fabulously FREE! 40 man bloodfests! Graphics are killer. Gears is way too polished and clean. Very fake looking. Slow frames no story, no real new weapons. It’s just Epic’s tuneup for UT2007 on PS3!

Now I am so looking forward to Rachet and Clank on PS3!!!

I think they’ll have the measly 6,000,000 shipped like they said, but only 5 million sold. It’ll be tuff to catch Wii even with all this. but they should get the largest console sales in a single day record. Just because it’s true, why do they need to brag about it!

Kaz says Sony now believes Nintendo is their greatest competition. That’s why they have increased shipping to the European nations to 400,000 the last 4 weeks. For a grand total of 6 Million shipped by end of the fiscal year. They are shipping 400,000 to 500,000 PS3 weekly here which will taper to fit the Europe Launch. Plus they have gone up on the Nikkei Index showing great expectations for this launch.

Here’s hoping they have 2 million on shelves for opening day of launch or people will get shot or something. They were talking about outselling X360 there in as little as two weeks, sort of like PS3 did to 360 in Japan. So I wouldn’t doubt they’ll get that job done. M$ is really having a tuff time selling X360’s there. Well maybe they’re just waiting for a PS3, probably.

Gee I wonder what the problem is? In fact the Japanese and Europeans are doing a whole lot better Euro wise. No real excuse for that I don’t think, but they are very different people for sure. Our poor dollar is in sad shape throughout the world. We are so in debt, those banks over there pwn us!
